Yeah from what I remember the plan that day was to put Sumner off his game as the boys were very aware of his talents. It worked, Sumner didn't have a very good day, the boys got into his head, he as an inexperienced young fella was caught up in the heat of battle and it caused him to lost the plot.

The Sumner name drools talent. Big family. All got the same issues. Attitude, committment and crying wolf  He called me names  Would be bloody fantastic to see one of them make the big time but a big lesson in toughen up needs to be in there as well.

Not sure but if it is him, seems to me like a bit of a "take him under ya wing" approach may be needed if the above mentioned is accurate.

I was quite surprised to see Sumner get picked up in the draft. I thought he would of come under alot of scrutiny after he was reported for three games in the SANFL under 18s Preliminary Final this season, missing the Eagles grand final win over Sturt. From what I understand it was a very ordinary incident, I've been told he punched/elbowed a guy in the face. He will obviously have to serve out the two remaining games from his suspension at GC.

I see your point, but just making the comment that it definitely wouldn't have been a one way thing.

We all know what Buzza is like (god love him  ) it wouldnt have been a gentle poke...

I'm sure TDK and FC would agree that I super boot would give a true account. All at haven on that ridiculous day knew that, given the freedom that lad could do some damage. The plan to put him off his game was perfect. Strong physical pressure followed by taunts from senior players such as Rolla with things like ' can't handle the bigger body little fella' just constant chatter got young Timmy pi$$ed! During that game both Rolla and the great man Jake Watts were called white dog c&:ts! Obviously water off a ducks back to those lads.

All the bullish:t started when Timmy threw an elbow at one of our young lads to which buzz ran over and grabbed Timmy by the jumper and said you dirty piece of sh;t! As is often the case it was interpreted as racial and he just lost the plot and the crowd became involved and it could have quite out of hand. Timmy just needed to suck it up and learn to shake the psychological advantage players can have on him (particularly at the elite level) cos once they know they've got in ya head... You're toast

Some food for thought..... If any one on a field is called a piece of shit, it's because you have been a dirty prick. It's never racial!
I have no tolerance for racial taunts from any player....there is enough hatred in this world without bringing it onto the field. However getting in someone,s head.... Play on as far as I'm concerned. If ya can't take a bit of harsh banter.... Get out of the game! If the psych out is that young fellas achillies heal, I'm afraid the top level is no place for him and he'll be back at the cats in no time flat! Good for the cats I guess!

What are you on about Bubba, we have lost an on baller Lockwood, a wingman Dixon, a full back Mooney and a key defender Lynch and haven't secured anyone just yet. But we do have a young talented B Grade that will fill those spots well, our best recruiting has been getting big Andy Thornton on board and keeping Matty Rowlands around the place, they compliment each other extremely well.

Timmy is a super talented kid with more natural ability in his left finger than most have in their entire body! He will be one to watch in the next few years.

I'm sure those who saw him play in Div 5 a couple of years ago will know what this kid is capable of!

Congrats Timmy!

Good luck to Timmy,
I got to coach him in the U/18s at Fitzroy a few yrs back & he was only 14 at the time.
Think he played his 1st Div 5 A Grade at Woodville South when he was only 16.
Then made his SANFL Senior debut for the Eagles this year.
Now drafted to the Gold Coast Sun with Ablett & Co.
Wish the young fella all the best & hope he makes the most from his opportunity in the Big League.
IT'S US AGAINST THEM!!!

Has the world gone mad? We are teeing off @ a bloke who would have been in his teens and by recalls on here he took comments out of context and lost his s***. Whoooopdie doooo **** me I would have done this numerous times when younger. If you hold grudges against a young bloke who called you names 2 years ago then you're a psc. Good luck to the bloke I hope he makes SA proud.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

BIG congrats to Timmy on being drafted!!!! Obviously GC has seen some potential in him. Regardless of what he said in the past, the kid played DIVISION 5, THATS RIGHT DIVISION 5 FOOTBALL, tried his luck at an SANFL club and got drafted!
The elbow incident in the PF this season will stay with him, it cost him an U/18s flag and saw him suspended!
Ive had the opportunity to play footy with him and wowzerz he has the ability! Super long kick, great set of hands and can leap!
As for those who don't rate him, HE IS NOW ON AN AFL LIST!!!
NH players may need to realise that, that incident happened 2 years ago, he was on 16 FFS! Probz got caught up in the moment, build a bridge and get over it! I dont know how many time ive had derogatory comments made towards me over the years. Let it slide.

Timmy from all at WS we wish you all the very best in your quest to fulfill the ultimate dream.

You can take your 'get over it comments' place them firmly up your pooper! His actions that day spilled into the crowd behaving in a dangerous aggressive manner to the point where young children were at risk. I hope stumbles at every hurdle.
