Did they have a new coach this year?
And yes great effort for sure, they had been irrelevant in the last couple of seasons.

Same A-Grade coach. They upgraded their B-Grade coach

Same A grade coach EV, he took over the reins in 2010 when the current coach 'resigned'. He has done a magic job with the club and all he needed was a few players who good go. Plus he is a ripper guy too. I'll be on their side, win lose or draw. :)

I would like to say Angle Vale has not had any issue with Smithfield at all over the past few years and was amazed at the descision to ban them for the remainder of the 2013 season, i feel it has taken alot of worry from other coaches as they were play gr8 football and would have traveled deep into the finals campaign this year.

But on the the other issue a team that finished 6th should not play finals just because a team is forfeiting there games due to a league suspension. Smithfield has not had all there early scores and wins cancelled and a forfeit should be the elimnation final. I do not understand the how a 6th place team gets a final spot.
How would the ladder look if all of smithfield wins and loses were gone how different would it look.

Q i like ur comment on preserving for finals but last two games loss by 8 goals and 4 goals not good form winning is confiedence, also D Ruiz is he still injured as he can not turn on the knee.

Theyve put smithfield as a whole in the naughty corner

Its time out, lose all ya privelages, cos whatever stern punishments were inflicted on previous incedents havent worked so this time its 3 strikes your out

Get over it, move on

I mathematically agree that letting the six side in is incorrect, but its also unaustralian to not let them in

What could be interesting is what if flinders uni knock out flinders park in the elimination final, then the Reds who are the victim of the smithfield horrifics, will be eliminated by a team who got a free ticket to finals because smithfield were expelled

So parks will be eliminated, where in a mathematical perspective should have won on forfiet

I believe the Flinders Park boys said they would rather play Flinders Uni and loose than go through on a forfeit. If true good on em! Must be a decent bunch of lads.

I don't think this post is appropriate given the appeal process is ongoing.

Well kudos to him then. Has been a pretty good effort so far. Hopefully they can continue in the same direction.

What I meant was, that players, with an eye on next week's final that is already stitched up, may not have performed at full workrate or put everything on the line to win contested possessions, because they were afraid of jeopardising their availability/performance next week with injury/soreness. And coming up against a team in Flinders Uni, who absolutely had to win, well, the difference in intensity between the two teams was obvious. It's unfortunate because we stressed prior to the game that we would have to match their desire to win the game.

As far as the Angle Vale game goes, we just weren't good enough. Not a great formline for us and we will come into the game as underdogs, but we will hopefully be fielding our strongest team for a couple of months *fingers crossed*

Dylan had his first game back against Angle Vale the other week and was understandably tentative. He moved much more freely against Flinders Uni and got a bit of the ball, just couldn't finish off on the scoreboard. He's fine.

I suggest Marbles you check out our umpire reports over the last 3 years that I have been involved in.
And I would have thought any stern punishments would have been made public before.

I don't know anyone at Smithfield or care for them but what did the league actually do to help the club out in the first place seems they just used big words and didn't actually do anything...then they kick them out cause they put it in the to hard basket.....3 strikes and your out seems a little shit how about actual intervention could have done so many things to help the club

now you got a club who finished 6th who shouldn't be in the finals...does that 6th side deserve to play finals NO.... either play Smithfield or auto win but don't give a worse side a shot

I personally think the league needs to grow a pair and step in on situations rather then use big words and threats

13 reports with 9 guilty and a police investigation we can't comment on. I'd say the league did grow a pair and did what they needed to do.

13 reports v Flinders Park with 9 guilty. Police investigation ongoing regarding the Ingle Farm game earlier this year to clarify my reply.

Not having a go at Smithfield just completely disagree with the post I was responding too.

How then did they get reported? Please don't say no comment. It is getting a bit old.

I have not heard anyone say that they thought that hose found guilty were innocent. Or is that no comment too?
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Your right I wasn't there and I have remained very analytical about the whole situation but I don't need to keep my mouth shut at all. Some of my friends and colleagues where at incidents involving Smithfield and I have made all the relevant inquiries regarding their expulsion.

I understand your frustration at missing finals that results suggest you should be entitled to play but I'm not the reason for that and me responding to a post with the reported facts is my prerogative . I have said nothing defamatory about Smithfield and I won't be keeping my mouth shut because I haven't said anything out of order.
