GW no not really I think it was because Jason Dolan who was BOG till half time ;) left to play B grade where he also kicked plenty of goals, is probably what helped Hope Valley up the anti ;)

see the crowd got a peek at him as he stripped in front of coaches box won the ruck taps and centre clearance in that second term few of the boys asked him to play one more quarter

Well by the looks of the b grade reults he kicked a bag in that game too! Their a grade seem to be struggling to kick scores.... so why is he not playing A grade?

The game does not happen without the umpires mate, im sure they all do their best. I think it is very disrespectful of you to come on this forum and single out and complain about an umpire!

i umpire my self i actually turn up and train and learn unlike the Bs and Cs umpire who think they know it all they only hurt the team cause come finals you get actual umpires before you say im being disrespectful find out how many actually done courses that umpires can do

He is qualifed umpire that umpires juniors on Sundays as well.

Gatt - I'd have a fairly safe bet that 95% of players have never opened a rule book, but that's never stopped them telling the umpire he's wrong every Saturday

I must admit i never opened the rule book until i started coaching. I would advise that if you get the chance everyone should have a look. With the rule changes that occur each year it pays to do your research. More so for coaches team officials (team manager) and the captain. As we know anything can happen on the day and shock horror umpires do get things wrong sometimes

Good win by my lads on the weekend. Game played in good spirits with the good old banter here and there. No real biff or anything which is good. We still werent able to put a full game together which was doisspointing but not as much as the accuracy in fornt of the big sticks. 29 scoring shots to only have 14 goals on the board is something we have to work on. Some expected results form the weekend. Seaton looked like they gave Athelstone a bit of a run for their money. POS also got some score on the board where i thought HV would have kicked away to get some % which looking at the ladder that may be the decision for a few sides when it comes to September. The cpomp seems to have evened out a bit for the top 6 not including Unley which is good to see. By some quick calculations it may be only 4 games whoch will seperate the positions from 3rd to 6th. Rather close by the end of the year. In short we cannot drop a game from here on. You never know with footy. Most of the sides above us and just below are playing each other which can help our cause. Should be an awesome last month of footy before finals.

Not really mate. Each time ive said we are going to have a good one we get done like against Athelstone where we played a terrible game and Athelstone played better than they did when they beat us by 7 goals ealrier in the year. Im not too supersticious but sometimes i jinx it.

Is this true mate? If so that changes a few things. It would open the door for Lutheran to stay in touch especially with the draw the way it is for the remainder of the year.

and will shake up a few sides if they get there and have the players they did on saturday. Some good players running around in their thirds. Not sure if they've been undermanned all year and are starting to come good with players back higher up?

It'd be fair to say youve had a bit of a different side every week... Hard to get blokes in the C grade to commit every week for various reasons. From all reports you have been somewhat 'stacking' your side with B grade players who can still become eligible for C grade finals... nothing really wrong with this, a lot of sides do it when their B grade is not able to play finals...

How close to the side that played Unley will play finals do you think? It looked like a pretty handy side that day, and it being a triple header allowed blokes like Dallas Wiles to play.
Guys like Nick Williams, Bawden, Shannon, Hambly, Coppins, Chapman and the Big Fist, amongst others are pretty handy players who I'll expect to be there in the finals.

couple of fair points mate. One thing i have pretty much made a hard point on is that exact thought of stacking. I didnt do it last year and wont do it again this year. Teh one thing our club has never had is that group of older players or those that have been away form the game for various reason just wanna have a kick with their mates and cant train. Simple notion across the board in all C grades with the later. Some of those gyus you pointed out were there to help pick up the numbers. Hambly played for 4 games and went back to the states for baseball. We have lost a few more of those that you have mentioned due to work committments and so on. In saying that our side has helped out the B grade side on numerous occasions where they have played 2 games on the day or played with us then gone up due to injuries. Having those players available at the end of the year "if" they are able to is a bonus. We are talking baout one player mate nothing like other clubs do. We odnt have that luxuryt at the moment. We'll soldier on though. This year we wont be here to make up the numbers. We made it to the second week of the finals last year and want to improve on that. Firstly we need to secure and keep our spot in the 5 first. Looks like it will be on for young and old with some sides picking up the pace towards the end and others dropping off.

4th and 5th between
Lutheran
Hope Valley
Portland &

A word to the wise Satchel, be prepared for a very Creative Day at Haslam Oval in Round 18.

Just saying that was our experience today. The fine young men from POS are very creative.

1. Creative Time Keeping
2. Creative Team Sheets
3. Creative Interchange

Reseves Players arrive throughout the afternoon just coming on whenever and wherever they like. We played against at least 27 today, maybe more. PS you'll still win but ....just saying these fine young upstanding men are very creative. ;)

We have had this a couple of times this year against us, not Pembroke though. That's where the extra player rule in the C's is used the wrong way. If your short OK, but to gain an edge wrong.
