Have heard something about UFC changing to Mercedes OC.
Also changing colours and gurnseys!
Heard this from a mate who said he was leaving the club for this reason!!
I hear the Unley Mercedes Jets is a done deal. Is this a case of a club selling it's soul for the purpose of a supply of 0 point players?
There is an affiliation between the Unley Jets and Mercedes OS and we will be playing under the name 'Unley Mercedes Jets' for 2012. It is not a full blown merger, this may or may not eventuate in the future. In 2012 we will be playing under the same guernseys, with the small inclusion of a badge acknowledging Mercedes.
This has come about as a significant portion of Unley's playing group are ex-Mercedes, Mercedes were looking to provide an official outlet for its old scholars and the Unley Jets see it as an opportunity to expand and strengthen the club on and off the ground.
There is no change to the junior structure which will remain as the 'Unley Jets' and both the juniors and seniors will continue to operate as one united club.
This move is not taken lightly and has come about after a long negotiation process.
its either a merger or its not..so your doing it for 1 year and then going back?..please..
interested to know names of current A graders who are ex mercedes..genuine question..thanks
fwiw i thought unley was standing on its own very well..just saying..

Probably fair to call it a merger, but there is a bit more to it than that. If all goes to plan like we very much hope and trust it will, it will be for the long term.
The issue you raised regarding the juniors was my number 1 concern with the whole thing. However, the juniors will remain untouched and neither party desires any change to this structure in the future. The juniors and seniors remain united, under the same club committee and with the same outlook for the Jets in the future.

Muffler wrote:I think the only worry about this Merger is the strength of footy at Mercedes.
Whilst i think throughout the school they are getting better most of the year levels are still pretty useless.
That would be my worry because they will turn away players/kids if they don't or haven't gone to the schoool.

re: juniors, keeping the unley jets moniker and not adopting the mercedes part as the seniors have..would it have to anything to do with the MSJFL not allowing colleges to enter junior teams in its league?..think pulteney..for me it was a very silly move to say no..if clubs want to come into a fading league why would they stop that..no doubt kids playing at MC will be encouraged to play juniors at unley..thats a given..seems pedantic..

....Pulteney are in the MSJFL, but did not field teams in 2011 and have nominated teams for the first time 2012.

MSJFL has auskick I thought? Anyway if you read back I was in favour of it and expected you to have teams in 2011, I was told a different story so thanks for your perspective..
I checked under"club contacts" Jetters but nice catch..didn't see that there before, strange..
