Jason Hiscock, Phil Furner, Dale Ross, Adam Elliss (Not 100% sure) plus Craig Delaney is now the Vice President of North Pines so he may try get a few across. Im pretty sure there is a couple of others I may have forgotten. Lets not forget Steve Newchurch played a couple of seasons at the Pines also.

We had about 40 faces out tonight for a run, with more expected to return next week and in the new year.

No wonder Glenunga started early. Bourkey has been in a good paddock since the season finished. But with all these players he's recruited he could probably get away with sitting in a Forward Pocket all season eating donuts!

And would kick 100

And he may eat 100 Donuts!

Training was of a high standard on Tuesday which was good to see. Especially considering everyone was stuffed after Bourkey and his damn beep test! Was good to see the bulk of last years players out for the first sesh of the season.

There were quite a few new faces and far too many names to learn but one chap who was being called "Coolts" looked outstanding. I was also impressed by "Bussy". Hope to see all the new boys throughout the summer, seemed very skilled and athletic, but a few needing fitness. Looking forward to it!

Sorry to burst your bubble Kingcarey but we don't have him. Wouldnt need to have have 18 on the field with that man.

The former North Adelaide/fitzroy player is only training with us, playing country footy...

Highest beep test I got told was at 13.6, can't wait till I give it a shot. In a few weeks.

It's funny how people think we only recruited from Fitzroy :p

Spending?

Gets your facts straight Jugs, Mark is on no individual money. You do get some info I've noticed, but its not always entirely accurate :P

Got to laugh at people from all clubs saying that they do not pay players as it happens everywhere & all these boys are on $ so stop trying to play it down that they arent!
It happens everywhere that is just fact but they have recruited well so good luck to Glenunga as they should be around the mark next season unless they go out in straight sets again...

Who cares what clubs spend and which players are getting paid what!!!
Each club works hard to raise coin and its up to each individual club how they spend it. If a club thinks paying players is in the clubs best interest than they should use their money that way, if they believe its better spent else where then they should do that. If a club has put in the yards and done a particularly good job of raising money then they shouldnt get ripped into by others who are jealous of the money they are able to spend.
Having said that it is frustrating when clubs are advantaged by having pokies, restaurants, grants and other funding that other clubs dont have for reasons out of their control.

Is doing a good job raising money having Mario Sabatino on board? If that's the case every club now is looking for James Packer to support them

South Australian Amateur Football League

Football is a sport. Its a way for young blokes to get together and have some fun. It's not a business. We aren't playing in a league that can generate revenue from TV rights or advertising. The current status quo is simply not sustainable.

The money driven culture of todays amateur football environment is a disgrace. The blokes that are on money these days to be brutally honest do not deserve it. I know of one guy who barely polled in our A-Grade Best and Fairest one year yet went to a country league and received hundreds of dollars per game. 10 years ago there were players that put their heart and soul into the football environments we now enjoy for nothing but respect who are now seeing the culture they built eroded because some mercenaries want some tax free cash to piss against a wall.

Some say I might be jealous, well, having seen MPFC's financial result last year I know for a fact we could buy several players, but I, like the majority of the people down there would rather lose by 30 goals knowing each and every player was on the same page and working together, than win with hired guns who are on coin.

Personally, I think the SAAFL should ban all payments to all players in all divisions except maybe Div 1. Div 1 would be the only place where I think a player is at a good enough standard to receive regular match payments. No idea how that would be policed or monitored but if the current culture of paying players continues we will see the deaths of more and more clubs over the years.

Same guy from Fitzroy with his response in Div 4. You happy to hear that one too Jugs? or is that just, diplomatic??

And as to Roaring Lions response here, I was gonna reply and have a big crack at him. But I know who he is and I like the guy, so I'll refrain. Fact is he is wrong about Fuller though. Simple as that. No more beating the dead horse.

It goes to show that even in Div 1 if u dont pay players u can be successful. SHOC didnt pay a cent last year and made a Div 1 GF. Players there got offered and are still being offered 800+ a game from clubs in the Barossa. Ridiculous u can earn 15k a year for a player SANFL reserves standard at best

I agree, in fact I think buying players and bringing in mercenaries is detrimental to a club in the long term, especially in the lower divisions where money is even more difficult to sustainably raise.

I agree as well 15k for playing Amatuer Football is absolutely ludicrous. Player payments ought to be regulated far more stringently by the SAAFL. It is slowly killing our game.

Unfortunately they couldn't stop players being paid when it was amatuer and they will never be able to police salary caps either. Black money will still find it's way to the pockets of guys and really if the clubs don't regulate themselves no one else can.

So it's just open slather now because its too hard?

Put in massive penalties for player payments and you would find most clubs due-dilligance would (should) rule it out...
