In round 11 houghton was defeated by smithfield

Thats a loss for u by a team that is no longer being considered in the final standings of the competition

Now 2 weeks ago flinders park also lost to smithfield, but now, it seems flinders park will recieve a victory for this. are u seeing the inequality yet?

Look further, what if now houghton will hav to play a final against flinders park at flinders park?

Follow the pattern yet? As xrunna mentions, the ripples could burn clubs due to an inequality of calculations

Why should Houghton be entitled to the 2pts? They were beaten fairly on the day by a better team, because Smithfield are no longer in contention doesn't mean a side that hasn't earnt it should suddenly be gifted the 2pts.

Using your theory why does flinders park get the points from a loss to Smithfield? Or is it being suggested that Smithfield didn't win the game fairly on the day?

It was said at our training that due to the incedents at flinders park, smithfield hav been denied any future victories and are expelled from playing finals

So although losing to smithfield, henley get the 2 points as will ingle farm this week and the team who has them in last round, its not fair if flinders park dont get the points

Then looking deeper its not fair on other clubs who got pumped or won against smithfield before this

So to guard the integrity of mathematical calculations between the remaining 9 teams in the comp, the smithfield matches should be put aside to ensure the final standings are pure and heading due north. Because one or two clubs are gonna get a massive bonus come finals time

so how would the ladder look if smithfield matches were not included at end of season
(ie: 16 matches per club) - there would be zero ground for inequality

I drive home past Flinders Uni oval and the lights were off and nobody home Tuesday night and they were back on the track last night!

maybe they had given up before getting a sniff after this incident!

Also look at the current ladder, some gremlins in the system there!

That would now give Ingle Farm a bye, a game and the 1st week of finals off as well. That's 1 game in 3 weeks going in to the 2nd semi. Not sure that is what you want as a lead up. :(

Uni boys we're at the pool Tuesday night, just changing things up a bit. We hadn't put the cue in the rack regardless of what has happened. A's and B's were still a chance to make it, even better chance now that our fate is back in our hands. Massive game for the A's this week and a massive day for both sides against Houghton next week.

We will do our best to give them some sort of competition. Maybe they will let us play with a few extra numbers on the ground to test themselves

If last 3 games are forfiets, then all their season results still stand, therefore where they sit on the ladder determines where everyone else sits. But yet theyre not allowed to play finals but their 18 matches are still thoroughly rendering the shape of the ladder

FWIW..

Ladder current:

I/F 28
AV 24
HD 24
Sm 18
F/Pk 18
SHOC 16
F/Uni 16
Henley 12
N/Pines 2
Broadies 2

If marbles we go your path, and reverse results for games that Smithfield have won ladder would read:

I/F 28
H/D 26
AV 24
F/Pk 22
SHOC 18
F/Uni 18
Henley 14
N/Pines 6
Broadies 2
Smith 0

Only change is between H/D & Angle Vale, the rest of the positions remain as is and the same sides are still competing for the 5, so leave it as is and deal with it!

Thanks PG, so that is the ladder before this weeks matches?

Broadies should have a few wins there?

But in theory if the results stand, shouldnt the elimination final between flinders park and smithfield be an automatic forfiet too, and parks go straight through?

Ah right, fair enough.

Just looking at the C's fixture it seems that there is a triple header at the Uni oval for the last round..

It could possibly work out that the crabs A and B grade sides have a simple scenario come the last game. Beat Houghton at home and both grades play finals. Massive from a club that didnt win a game for 3 years.

Houghton B grade can win this week and shut the door on the crabs reserves to avoid an "elimination" game next week.

Houghton A grade will be pressing hard as well against the crabs to try and snatch a home final in the first week of finals!

Correct me if i am wrong but thats how i read it. Does that sound right Q?

Ingle Farm have North Pines in the last round - you want some A graders for your C grade so you can beat Pultney for me?

It is massive for Flinders Uni though, tremendous achievement and have come such a long way! I hope they can make it, and I think Flinders Uni should be quietly confident in the B grade of remaining alive in the finals hunt after this rounds matches..
