Blackfriars over haven by 1 point today, It was a hell of a game.

A dissapointing result as we were leading right up to about halfway through the last quarter and were over ran. We started well and got up to about a 4 goal lead at one point but we switched off at important times during the last half. Our discipline really cost us and was probably the main reason we lost. The umpires weren't great, I think Blackfriars blokes would agree but we did give away way too many stupid free kicks and 25m penalties mainly through the midfield which hurt us blokes down back. This gave Blackfriars too many opportunities which they took to full advantage.

On a positive note we ran hard, tackled hard and battled really well all day which was great to see, showing we have the ability to compete in D5 this year. We were just pipped at the post, which happens.

Some of the better players for us I thought were:

Olcurn,
Price,
Rowlands,
Watts

And for Blackfrairs don't know too much about their team but I thought there 2 Ruckman and midfield brigade played well. Number 49 Sam Murphy (I hope thats right) playing on the wing, I thought was probably their best for the day.

Also well done to the B grade for getting up today by 59 points. Had a good team today and all of the 21 played well. A well deserved result. Will post more info after presentations tonight

well done to your lads DK. b's touched us up and the a's we got out of jail. your lads seemed to run out of steam. big lad in ruck and everywhere else was very good. our last quarter was pretty good and a couple of moves worked. the tackler needed to be rewarded more consistently by the umps. they were pretty keen to pay 25's as well.

How did MAD DOG Duerden go in his first run for the year? think he was playing in the 2's?

ROSEWATER VS BLACKFRIARS- ROSSIES WERE PRETTY ORDINARY AFTER HALF TIME LAST WEEK BLACKFRIARS WITH A NARROW WIN SO TOSS OF THE COIN HERE BLACKS BY 11 POINTS.
NORTH HAVEN VS HECCIES-HECCIES WILL BE VERY GOOD THIS YEAR AGAIN AND WILL WIN BY 30 POINTS.

The Hope Valley vs Smithfield game was played in good spirit, i think Smithfield let us off the hook when they missed about 4or5 set shots at goal in the 1st quarter. What was disappointing was only Bondy coming up for a drink after the game, at least last year Oldie didn't mind coming in for a drink. In this grade i think it is good if all coaches and a few players come in for a least one drink, like use to happen all the time in the old days! Win or lose you meet some good people in football if you go for a drink after the game which we try and do at Hope Valley.

What ever happened to game day specials mate? I get your point but we do have around 10 players 18 or younger, a few on P's, it makes it hard with breatho's out everywhere.
BTW, about 10 of us went in last season after the game and there were more of us than you guys.
We always put on a few jugs for opposition teams.

Agree mate your beers alot cheaper than ours, dont start tired tiger on that! I understand the younger blokes not coming in for a drink, but would thought the coach, captain may have come in for 1 drink.I think most teams struggle today to get their own players straight in to the club for a drink and will look out for the free jugs when play you next time! didn't happen last year when we went in. I no Hectoville in the past have given out some free drinks to us. Football has changed for the worse, in the old days you would all ways have a drink with the opposition players after the game, but like you said travel, RBT and some teams dont have clubrooms.

I can vouch for LM on this one. We got given a couple of jugs after the game last year.
Its a great tradition but one that seems to be fading. Was happy with Salisbury's form on the weekend - they gave out raffle tickets to our blokes to redeem for free beer. Think we might borrow that idea..

yes was good hope most teams stick around after games.. rosewater looked pretty young, average age would be around 22-23 id say
