Noticed he was not named in either Smithfield side. Not playing or playing funny buggers LM??

Hadn't been cleared when the teams were entered on the net last night, I can tell you he was listed in the B's and was 1st emergency for the A's.

Fair enough. Are you donning thev orange tomorrow? Would be nice to get a quality umpire first up!

Are you sucking up for votes all ready Bartman, is that how you won that medal last year! :)

Interesting looking at Elizabeth's A grade side to play Plympton today. Hogan, Mccracken, Mcvicar, Lee, Evans, Schell, Halliday and Makris are all ex South Gawler players.

heccies beat adelaide lutheran by 6 goals. lutheran kicked a few at the end to bring the gap down. they were 3.10 or something at one stage which cost them.

Blackfriars over haven by 1 point today, It was a hell of a game.

A dissapointing result as we were leading right up to about halfway through the last quarter and were over ran. We started well and got up to about a 4 goal lead at one point but we switched off at important times during the last half. Our discipline really cost us and was probably the main reason we lost. The umpires weren't great, I think Blackfriars blokes would agree but we did give away way too many stupid free kicks and 25m penalties mainly through the midfield which hurt us blokes down back. This gave Blackfriars too many opportunities which they took to full advantage.

On a positive note we ran hard, tackled hard and battled really well all day which was great to see, showing we have the ability to compete in D5 this year. We were just pipped at the post, which happens.

Some of the better players for us I thought were:
Our defence,
Davis,
Eagels,
Kolbig,
Olcurn,
Price,
Rowlands,
Watts

And for Blackfrairs don't know too much about their team but I thought there 2 Ruckman and midfield brigade played well. Number 49 Sam Murphy (I hope thats right) playing on the wing, I thought was probably their best for the day.

Also well done to the B grade for getting up today by 59 points. Had a good team today and all of the 21 played well. A well deserved result. Will post more info after presentations tonight

Valleys up over smithfield today by about 3 goals in the end. Good hard game of footy with both sides in it until about 5 min to go when we kicked away. Smithfield gave us a 6 goal head start with some inaccurate kicking in the first but put the clamps on us in the 2nd and 3rd. Really happy with the lads to keep a cool head in the last and grab the points. Looking forward to a test next week tho against the rampaging eagles on their home deck, lets hope the dees can go 2-0.

Fido Bedow where are you? I'm sure the boys at Argana Park had a laugh at that comment on the way home?

Good wins for the A's and B's today up at the Lodge.

B grade was relentless all day, never giving Rosewater a chance to get settled. Midfield got on top and didn't stop. Won 23 goals to 2.

A grade took a while to get going, 7 to 3 at half time. 9-0 3rd quarter killed off the contest. Think final score was 22 goals to 7? Massive game to come vs Lutheran. Always a hard team to play, will be interesting to have a run around Thebby oval.

your b's were unlucky not to win and the boys no it...
your a's were very solid, very good running side, certainly came to play... are round 1 hoodoo continues... regardless of that, EFC played a very good game.. too good today, in all aspects... only positive i'll say for PFC is that we played very ordinary and we only lost by 6 goals.... but no excuses... better side won today...
by the way it was a surprise too see wwe superstar big show line up for the C grade, didnt know he played footy... ;)

also saw interesting decision today, one of our players got pinged holding the ball when he was out off bounds... i think he was almost standing at the bar... some interesting umpiring today, regarding both sides...

That Trevor Wiegland, or whatever his name is, is rubbish, i umpired a few games with him when i was umpiring for saafl and he just seemed un-interested, and it showed with his umpiring. Should be no higher than a div 6 ump imo.

On the game i thought elizabeth certainly came with a different mindest than Plympton, i think that it may have stemmed from to doggies playing a somewhat wasted trial against a sub standard kenilworth, then expecting to come up against a side like that in round one.

Some coaching moves i found interesting from plympton's point of view; when we have a class goal kicker up forward and we decide, on our oval which is the size of a postage stamp, to start two forwards 15m in front of him at every ball up. Where is he suposed to lead?? Also our on-ballers appeared to be resting in the back pocket instead of the forward line, when the eagles went forward the capitalised on it, and it seemed as if it occured all day.

i reckon our coach over-complicates the game plans for div 5 footy, especially on our home ground where it is 2 kick, 2 handpass footy from one end to the other. Elizabeth showed some physical presence across all lines and the boys did not know how to handle it. Straight out of Westminster's playbook from last years finals series.

yes i agree regarding the umpire concerned. very forthright assessment of plympton there jabber. couple upsets according to the tipsters already in round 1. this is gonna be a very tough comp and home wins will be so important and away wins will be worth absolute gold.
