Never been more proud of our fantastic footy club. So many people deserved our result and no more than the 44 players.
Thanks to all for the support (both good and bad) and we look forward to hopefully achieving more success.
Glenunga were excellent and I hope both of us can cause some headaches in future years.
The Parklands Showdown was an excellent exhibition of grass roots footy.

I'll be honesty i very much dislike Kenilworth, and the boys who know me will understand  ... But in all honesty a fantastic effort from a very proud club.. great work fella's...

LK my thoughts also. I was so proud of the kenilworth football club. Finally got the chance to see an A grade flag and back to back for the B's. Well done also to the glenunga committee for taking up the opportunity to fill the spot in Div 6 this year. the grand final was a good one with the game ebbing and flowing and no one able to make the clear break on each other.

thought i would do a review of how i think the teams went in this div during the year. mainly because there is sweet FA going on at work this arvo and im bored out of my brain.

kenilworth- premiers and deservedly so, the best team we played all year. who had a brilliant defence, a solid talented midfield and a forward line that had a good mix of marking targets and smalls. will be interesting to see how they go next year considering west croydon finished 3rd this year in div 5 after going up last year.

glenunga- would be upset about losing the big one but stoked with their year overall. managed to beat their bogey side of the year in BOS in the prelim and would take great heart that they werent blown out of the water against kenilworth in the GF. had the biggest side ive seen in this div and some serious talent running around as well. many many different avenues to goal with one of the best midfields in the division. feel free to disagree people but think their defence may have been the one area where they can improve.

Blackfriars- Thought they would get over glenunga in the prelim and will be dissapointed not to go straight back up to div 5. Had the best FF in the comp and a very good ruck/midfield duo. had a very good spread from the contest and used clean hands to find free players on the outside of the pack and were very skillful going forward. they also had some very strong lads around the contest and were able to push around some sides (CLG)

trinity- at their best with their best side on the park could well have made the GF, consistency was their problem this year which may well be because of their horror run with injury to key midfielders. strong forward line with cotter and zorich both hard to stop when on and a midfield that is very quick. as was the case with glenunga possibly their defence just needed to be a bit stronger if they were ever going to match it with kenilworth.

Central United- when we played them out there early in the year i thought we had played against a grand finalist, dominant all over the park with use into the forward line that was second to none. looking back now this may have been more to do with us putting no pressue on the ball carrier at any stage that day! still a supremely skilled team, garner and woodward were both incredible for them all year along with abdulla in the ruck. didnt see them at all from round 13 onwards but looking at results may have just lost their way a bit coming into finals, close loss to trinity in the elimination would have hurt but all in all a fantastic effort from a side that came up from div 7 last year. will have a new coach next year who will hopefully continue the good work done by his predecessor.

Uni- another great effort from a club that came up from div 7. started the year slowly in comparison to how they finished and was one of two teams to beat kenilworth for the year. overall a very even side that played as a team every week. lost players during uni holidays/exams which ultimately could have cost them a finals spot. much like CU they should be proud of their eforts coming up from div 7 and will be a better side next year knowing what it takes to be a finals contender for next year.

CLG- struggled for most of the year and was in serious threat of relegation before beating the farmers, trinity and houghton on the home stretch. went in with a very very inexpeirnced side with people playing their first a grade game in their very first year of football. apart from the fossil kane stewart and a baby faced daniel maxwell the enitre rest of the team was under 25. having such a young side, all problems that go along with that were evident, inconsistency, poor decision making etc. great group of lads though and i have my fingers crossed that everyone is back next year, hopefully with the main man stephen zeck in charge next year we can bounce back into the finals.

Houghton- another inconsistent perfomer, at times were a different side away from home compared to when playing at home. at home put up some monster performances but too many times were beaten convincingly away from home. young ruckman looked good in round 18 against us and davis was their best again by far, wouldve won their B&F by a record margin one would think. im not sure with their current list if they could have done much better this year, couldve maybe snuck into the five with a few more away wins. dont think anyone at the club would be too dissapointed with how they played and where they finished.

Ingle farm- looked ok in the first half of the year and were in the mix for a finals berth at one stage. fell in a huge hole at the halfway mark and didnt win a game for the 2nd half. had their good players, ruckman was good first time around against us and tremain and rigney were great. malbunka gave them a target but lacked a bit of depth which showed in the second half. respectable effort after being beaten by just about everyone last year and will go ok in div 7 one would think.

henley- Jones defainately the standout, was amazing year round. not enough contributors though. the ladder may not show it but were definately competetive for most of the year and out in some really good performances. will go back to div 7 and regroup, cant see them being too far off the mark down there especially if they can develop that depth they had last year. lacked a bit of height down back which happens when you are a C grade side and the talls get promoted to higher grades.

Couldn't agree more BFG. A quality core group of players and some good recruiting, already well and truly on the way, will be a complete different team next year. We realise div 7 will not be easy, but teams be wary, Ingle Farm will turn it around next year!!

i believe that CLG have finally made a good desicion after several attempts a appointed the zedman at last
a gentleman who brings old fashioned attitudes to coaching
even tho he is right up to date with footy styles and game plans,it will be his ability with players, teaching, nuturing, explaining, morals and discipline that will be his biggest asset
i am glad for him and honestly believe he will lead the lions in the right direction
all the best for next season mate
i am sure you will be great

After losing almost 500 games of experience in Penn, Whales, Kuhar & Dwyer, some may say we shouldn't be disappointed with finishing outside the five. But being only a win outside the top five at the pointy end of the season and having recorded wins against CU and TOS, suggests we could have done better. Our young side was prone to inconsistency and our depth wasn't up to standard when we were flattened by injuries, but I can think of at least three games where we let a good lead go begging during the second half.

The lads are desperate to play finals and with the young side gaining some valuable A-Grade experience this year, I think we can add 3-4 good players to that mix and play in the major rounds next year.

thanks for the kind words deeman..div 6 will be a real hot comp next year and i cant see any easy games at this stage..i guess its a natural progression from div 5 being so tight the last 2-3 years..and the teams coming up from div 7 are no slouches..
