Ah yeah had an ok game but my disposal especially going inside 50 was poor. Hard when ur only target was 5'4! We really need a large old school in the hole FF that day. Custard and others are always tellin me i play my best footy down back, but have ignored them for many years lolcatchisthecry wrote:TEX07 wrote:beef wrote:Thanks to Kilburn for rocking up with 12 players on Saturday (especially after we rang them on thurs night and was told they had a full team), this division is becoming a farce as we now havent played for over a month. I dont know why teams nominate a C grade team if u dont have enough. We had about 20 blokes out through injury and illness but still put together a team, at least Greenacres and Westminster did the right thing and didnt put a team in. Now all we can do is hope the team we play this week bothers to show up.
It seems as though C4 is the comp that this happens in each year for the last few years? It sucks I know, leading into last years finals we played about 2 games in 6 weeks also. In the old days of C grade sides the rest would be a blessing but the average age of most clubs C grade sides are a lot younger now days so it is harder to get the payers to stay focused. In C6, we have the last round bye/forfeit and are hopeful of finishing top and having the first week off. With our average age in the low to mid 30s the two weeks off would be fantastic leading in.
We played your C grade in trial this year and also last year, you guys would be the outright favs so take the rest while you can, finals is just a few weeks away!
Without doubt! Too good. Give them the flag now!!!
Played against Duncs yesterday, best for eliz by the length of Thebarton. well played mate.
Sorry, I meant to say g'day but i was icing up after the game! so sore, too unfit for a ground that big

We have used 115 players this year (youngest 15, oldest 48), in fielding 3 sides week in week out.
We have struggled as a club- our A grade are winless, our B grade's sole victory was against Greenacres.
The C grade have been competitive, and now as finals are nearing decisions need to be made- if a player has played 8 B grade & 8 C grade games (indicating that he is really a fringe B grade player), then it makes sense to select them in the C grade for the last 2 games to have them qualified.
That is not stacking your C grade, that is making sure you have enough players qualified.
We are not playing players in the C grade, who will not be playing finals, in an effort to make the finals.
We struggled to fill our C's against Elizabeth in R8. We played a nervous 15 year old, & a mate of mine who had never played footy before.
We got smashed, but we have not forfeited 1 game since our C grade was reborn in 2007.
Since R8, we have had new players join, & injuries have healed since then, so hence, we were able to field a much stronger side yesterday, which beat Elizabeth.
I'm sure we'd be great guys if we laid down & let everybody beat us, or made the finals & only had 16 players qualified.
Our A grade side that was beaten (soundly) by Elizabeth contained our best 21 players at Fitzroy- no Pearce's were dominating in the C's yesterday, Ben Hart didn't kick 16 from FF in the C's, so NO, our C grade side was not "stacked".
As for the club- wouldn't you expect them to support all grades?

Peace's Hart would stand out to much! don’t u think so and would never go to Cs u can spin it as u like but u be in C5 next year Uni and Elizabeth will not.

If I could understand part of your statement, I would answer it.
I think it says something about beating Uni?

If our B grade weren't going to play finals I would've loved to have qualified a few guys like Mark Vawser, Steven Johnson etc. They have played similar games in each grade and would be logical to get them for the side playing finals.

I cant see the big deal, it is just plain smart for them to qualify the players that are around the mark? With the ability to have 7 on the bench in the C grade comp you want to make sure that you can fill that bench come finals because your opposition will.

I guess u can do the same seeing your A grade won so many game this year and Bs playing Finals hey why wouldn't u agree with this. I always though it was to get your best team to play A grade each week not care about flags in the lower grades? I Guess I'm wrong thinking this way.
