Finals failure once again at Bagster Road. To the Salisbury North supporters parked in their trucks on the hill who were bagging Broadview at the beginning of the year and suggesting that we return to D2.
Well Karma has come to bite you in the backside again. No A grade flag in over 20 years and only a plaque to the players that lost the D2 GF in 1999.
May I suggest that you learn what it takes to be a successful D1 club and that money does not get you any where in D1 its hard work and a club first ethic.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Would not be surprised to see a Goodwood v SHOC grand final. Might end up being way off the mark but hey just as possible as anything else in finals footy.

Yes you are way off the mark. Henley WILL make the GF and its more than likely SHOC will exit the finals this Saturday faster than a Floreani Brothers' toupe. GF will be the same as 09 but with Henley to break the streak.

AGREE TOTALLY.

I meant it wouldn't suprise me to see Goodwood and SHOC fight it out for a spot in the GF ;)

Spot on! Salisbury North are the new chokers of Div 1 footy, to finish 2nd and lost both their finals! a team full of prima donnas, with the king of them all Shane Jordan, as akermanis would say, shane has the IQ of a plant!!

Also their b grade lost, i watched some of this game and the salisbury north football and their committee/football director etc should be totally ashamed of their club and the players that represent their footy club, some of the things i witnessed in that game just proves that the club as no respect at all, their club i feel is getting tarnished and unless something is done they are all a bunch of pathetic losers like some of the players and supporters associated with this footy club! To have a supporter walk onto the ground and walk just past the goal sqaure while the game is being played and abuse and threatan the opposition player is beyond feralness, total imbreds!!

Clearly you did not see the game. Sure Goodwood would have played better in dry conditions but the mental belting they copped today would have been enormous. Henley just had too many options all over the ground. A dry day will suit Goodwood much more granted, but surely it will Henley with Kenny McGregor, Cullen (who is a gun even today) and Pederson contolling the air. Wakelin and King do not take many marks and although it stopped Illman who was outplayed by Shawn McGregor and Berry who controlled Kells, Goodwood would need divine intervention to beat Henley again.

Mills would be praying for a dry day as anything less than that they are in trouble. Kicking with a 8 goal cyclone in the first quarter as well, it was a little bewildering why Goodwood did not play anyone behind the ball. Henley were clever enough to have Kenny McGregor and Rugolo sit in rebound protection all of the second quarter, not allowing Goodwood any chance to score. Hall certainly had the better of Mills on the day as well. Game was effectively over at half time. Sure Mills will learn from that as will Hall but just can not see Goodwood fronting up again next week after another week of rain and then on the big Thebarton Oval having to out run a rested and fresh Henley, after they have been slogging it out in the mud for 3 or so weeks AND we they are no certainty of beating Sacred Heart OC, so probably putting the cart before the horse.

As i said earlier this wk, Henley had a massive focus on winning the contested ball and they destroyed the Goodwood boys. Henley were first at the ball 75% of the time and tackled the lights out of Goodies the other 25% of the time. Some of the players said it was the coldest weather they have EVER played in and a couple of them looked like they weren't even going to be able to front up in the second half. A couple of them were literally convulsing in the change rooms. Henley just bashed them all game with massive hits on Giles (who I'm pretty sure went to hospital for a hit on his ribs), Hamblin, and Smith. It was a truly awesome team display. But Henley know the job's not done and there is a long way to go. If they bring that attitude into the gf it's hard to see anyone getting near them.

not sure how you can say they are the chokers of div 1. its not as though their team was that fantastic that they underperformed by finishing 4th. they lost a few players from last year, and picked up very little. with no real ruckman in their side, they were always gonna struggle against the better sides.
and as for other coments, have they really paid that much $$ for players this year? I'd be very suprised if this year they have paid what they were alleged to have paid in previous years.

Spot on BOP. At the start of the year EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE was predicting a Henley v Goodwood Saints Grand Final. Nobody could see who would challenge them seriously. Ask yourself the question? would you have picked Sacred Heart OC or any other side for that matter to challenge either Henley or Goodwood Saints.

I know many Club officials and people from high up in a variety of Clubs who did not expect this to happen either and were realistic about their chances. So please give Salisbury North and every other Club who does not play off in the Grand Final a break.

Although no club Coach or Coaching staff would admit it, you have to be a realist in this game as well and to think any other Club or Team had the talent to beat Henley or Goodwood, then you should be locked up in padded cell.

Fair call - good to see some ppl talking common sense. Although all teams set themselves to reach a Grand Final, a couple of teams lists are far and above that of most others. SN finished 7th last yr and havent made massive changes to its list. although not happy, the club would be more satisfied they are back in the finals. Noone likes to go out in straight sets but its a learning thing for a young group. To the bitter people talking about $$ and choking.. get a life - thought the broken record had played for the final time a couple of yrs ago. Well done to SHOC - better on the day when it counted. tough slog! Pretty rough picking 1 player out of a squad and tarnishing his name on a forum too.. Very courageous!

OK I know the weather wasn't real good yesterday and I know Spelly does the SANFL stats but can anyone tell me when the last time an A1 side failed to kick a goal in the SAAFL? And given I reckon Goodwood will start favourites next week, when was the last time any team kicked 0.1 and started favourites the week after? And further further to that has any team kicked 0.1 at any stage during the year and won the flag (coz I reckon they can still go all the way?)
