It was suggested to me that they may fudge the C Grade so as to not make the GF, to which I replied 'bullsh*t'. They have the option of not advancing a grade, I believe, if they do of course play the GF.

If that's true, that is a disgrace. Worry about that sort of stuff after the season. Think about the blokes who put in each week and try and tell them they shouldn't make the GF because they'll go up a division!! The players should band together and try and win it now. Then have a mass exodus with a medal around their necks!!!!

I thought that there was provision for a club to nominate not to move up next year if they didn't want to. Particularly relevant for C/D teams in Div 7. Surely this was all that was discussed.

I don't see why you would need to tank (play the C grade team in D grade and vice versa) or why any club would do that to its players.

depends on the depth of the club - prior to last year (uni's annus horribulis) our c grade was in div 6 and had made the finals the previous few seasons- yes its a step up from div 7 to div 6 - but as suggested you have the option of nominating divisions prior to the draw - and i'm sure a relegated club would prefer to stay up.

Maybe you should put the above post on the wall tomorrow for the boys DQ..
It may be only 1 team that has to go down...
Might give the boys a kick up the a**..

Arses kicked into gear a few weeks back, been playing good footy only to be let down by momentum lapses. Just desperate for the next win, to sing the song and have a massive piss-up.

We are aware of several scenarios, but still wouldn't like to leave our possible relegation in the hands of others.

great win to st pauls.. no offence but something must be on the nose down at henly to have such a big turn around in the last two weeks.. Top win by the roo boys showed athelstone how to play for three and a bit quarters but we dont really want to have any quiet patches come finals...

I think St Paul's kicked the 1st 6 goals of the game before Henley had a possession. They still had a few players from when we played them the 1st time might have just had a bad day.
Wouldn't be writing The Sharks off yet, i think they'll still have a bit to say come finals time.

Keen to hear a Henley blokes take on the game from the weekend.

Looking forward to taking on Athelstone this week, they embarrassed us the 1st time we played them so very, very keen to turn it around.

The Saints have certianly improved and played some much better footy than earlier in the year. The Sharks are playing very ordinary footy at the moment and have probably had a few too many guys in the side that are not quite up to the standard or fitness of the A (& C) grade sides. One of our blokes did a count on how many blokes played this week and against St Pauls in Rd 2 and only 6 players were the same - may give some indication of the 25 goal turn around at the weekend. The A's, B's and D's did well to get wins with so many blokes out, 17 are expected back to the A-C grade over the next few weeks. If we can hold on til then, should come home strong.

Athelstone aren't tanking so they don't go up to Div 6 are they? :)

There is no tanking going on. We pick our best sides each week and we are very happy with the way our C's are travelling. If we make a GF, that would be great. There were 8 changes this week from the week before. That is what happens to a C grade side.

If Athelstone made Div 6 would you nominate to stay down?
