My late Dad's birthday. Just so he was part of the wedding. Means way more to me than footy ever will.

Don't try & place a legitimate & heartwarming reason in the way of us insulting your manhood! ;)

Maybe not the worse excuse, more of a cover up excuse.

I was told a story that a guy missed a game after doing his hamstring while doing his missus. For some reason he didn't think that was a good enough excuse so told the coach he went for a light run on the Friday night and did his hammy then.

there are clearly defined periods in march and october for weddings that dont affect cricket or footy.

If you have to do it, early in both seasons best.

But yeah, HH3's reason also good enough.

We had a young guy miss a game last season because he had to go test drive a Subaru.

Best effort I've seen to play a game of footy goes to a junior team mate of mine when I went to watch him play in the country years ago. Had the squirts the morning of the game. Played an away game with half a roll of toilet paper wedged between his arse cheeks and the other half in his jocks as back up. Went in for a "tyre change" at each break and on a sunny day for footy he was the only bloke on the ground with a mud patch on his arse...

Played with a few blokes that pulled out the morning of a game as they hadn't been to bed yet

The hammy excuse would have well and truly sufficed!

I should of done that in my 200th for the club. Had to get the wife to drive me to the game, was seeing double out on the field, tripping over my own feet. What made it worse was it was a 2.15 game and the coach made me captain for the day. I came good after a beer after the game

Not a game.. But tonight at training heard a cracker for going off the track.. One of the young unfit lads informed me he had to see the trainer and get some ice for his stitch while we were doing some fitness work

Few choice words.. Questioned what he thought the trainer was going to do for a stitch.. Few more choice words then told him go on then see ya go see the trainer.

Think he felt bad - ended up staying out and completing the whole night without another complaint

Ex teammate of mine (now deceased) went out on a Friday night and at about 4am got a massive back tattoo. The coach found out at 2pm when he turned up at the game. Despite the player saying he was sick and couldn't play the coach made him sit on the bench the entire game with our usual woollen guernsey on circa 1992. Nice and scratchy on his now bleeding tattoo. All credit to Greeny. Great bloke sadly missed.
