Whats Wello doing next year? Going to have another crack at Sturt with a full preseason under his belt?
D4 would be at loss without his flowing locks. Dead set can play.

Yep Matty Camplin & Scott Mumford

How many power cages?

Hope you're teaching the lads the value of the big three ;)

2 Power Cages. Bumper plates as well for some basic o-lifting.
Even a glute ham raise.
Helps when a member of the playing group is a sport scientist/strength and conditioning coach ;)

It shocks me that any amateur football club has a functional gym set up! Nearly all weight rooms are a complete waste of time and are put together by people without the slightest idea.

I was having a crack at a couple of GG boys today, man you guys have it good up there! New clubrooms, 2 ovals, new gym, electronic scoreboard, massive junior program, developing area and a couple of handy signings/returning players for next year. You'd want to win some games!

could you elaborate on the reasons as to why a weights set up is a waste of time at amateur clubs? Just interested in your thoughts

Yes, this would be interesting.

Given that Havens have just installed an elaborate set up, Purchased by Nicole with the money he got from Mooneys generous bequest to the NHFC. ;)

That's what I heard anyway 8)

Most club gym we would be put together by people that would have the slightest clue about strength and conditioning. If the right gear isn't put in the club gym, it becomes useful for nothing more than beach muscles. Hence the use of the word "functional"
Understand what to train, how to train and how this fits into the overall scheme of a football program, taking into account aerobic training/running demands, injury prevention, strength and power improvements is key if you want to get the best out of it.

Aha yes the new machine is very neat and improves our little gym set up very nicely. Many thanks to Terry for it, I'm going to struggle to get out of there even more now.

I hope you kept the receipts.....

Most amateur footy clubs gyms consist of a high pulley (set for some useless tricep exercise), shitty bar (for the compulsory barbell curl), some rubbish all-in-one home gym setup, and if they are getting close to useful, maybe a smith machine.

If its not some variation on squat/power racks/stands, bars and plates, benches, dumbbells if you really want, floor space, most importantly some people who knows what they are talking about and little else you are wasting your time and $$$. An 'elaborate' set up is a useless.

You read that wrong - he made a generalisation about people at club having no idea - not the actual clubs themselves.
