I agree, I think it has the potential to satisfy all leagues but we're the only league with promotion and relegation which is a leveller in itself and I doubt there was any thought put into that particualar point by either the cfl or judging from what others have said on here, the then ceo of the amateurs.

Quick question re apps, if a player say plays a grade at gepps x then transfers to good wood and plays b grade, the year later he transfers again and plays a grade he is regarded as a zero yes?

ALthough clubs like Henley are C grade sides in div 7, they play free of points, yet Mitchell Park and North Pines and Smithfield are still limited..

Fair enough for div 8, as it's solely a C grade comp.

It is their C Grade side compared to the A Grade side - there's no-one currently in our C Grade that would make our A Grade even if they trained every night.
Rules are; points only apply to your A Grade side, HOWEVER, you could recruit a 3 pointer and play him in your B, C or D Grade if you wanted.
I heard one club has around 40 points in their stable - someone's got a lot of mates ;)

Example: (apologies to GG and Modbury here)

Scuddsy gets PO'd with GG and takes half a dozen mates to play C grade at Modbury because he's too lazy to play any higher ;) mates are GG A grade players too but want to play with Scudds so they sandbag.

It happens...given, not often...but it happens.

Perhaps in Disneyworld, but not the real world.
So Scudds, who is getting paid to play either weekly or as a win/loss leaves and takes A Grade mates to pay $230 fees to play C Grade. Give me a break!

Yes i think that is unfair when you explain it like that. These are the little things that need to be nutted out i believe.

Some clubs with a heap of junior teams get on there high horse too easy

Its not unfair because its a non issue, what club is going to recruit and pay a player to play C grade. You may get 1 bloke eg Sujay Cook who is 'playing with mates' is he alone going to win the game for a C grade side against an A grade side.... probably not.

We have so many teams because the Jnr committee actively promote our club in schools.... no ifs or buts, the club has worked bloody hard to get to the set up we have. And yes I know other factors come into play ie area of the club, the population make up of that area etc etc

That then becomes the clubs responsability to pick the players where they should be picked? play were your picked or leave.

I dont believe the APPS was developed with the SAAFL as the primary user, we are unique and have promotion/relegation within our own league as well a number of other issues that does not allow the system in it's current form to be applied fairly to all clubs within.

I think that a points system that has been developed for and applied to us (with all the little tweaks) is the most sensible way forward as the salary cap is way too easy to manipulate as has been shown in the past.

Just having a points system in place makes having juniors a valuable addition and encourages clubs to move in that direction which can only be good for football, but the development of a strong junior programme takes time and perhaps clubs that are shown to be working in that direction can get some benifits re the APPS application which can be faded out as their juniors get stronger.

Ther wer too many "unknowns" with the current system and I believe it should have been phased in slower to give the SAAFL clubs and the executive time to work through the various issues as they came to light
Opinions and bumholes..you either have one or are one IMO

How is promotion/relegation system a leveler? 1 club pays 100k+ in player payments because they can, recruit players from another side who cant pay $$ and the club that has lost players gets relegated.... yep sounds level to me

Modbury C grade last season rings a bell!

They all had to cough up $200 odd to play the season. Not 1 of them would have been selected to play A Grade. Ring that bell

Sorry my bad i meant to say the D grade, the C grade busted there arse for no support from the D grade.

And it is great to see the club have changed that this year, good work!

Off topic, the end

Jumping at shadows here

They are playing C Grade Football not sure they would be playing with over 15 points

I think we could move on from here as A Grade players from the year before are not going to a new Club to play C Grade football

I don't think so. It's a distinct flaw in the system, with the introduction of div. 8 now the clubs such as TTG, SHOC, Modbury have no incentive to move their C & D's up the ranks.

Are you kidding? We were spanked every week in the C Grade last year and fixed our issues. Now we are competitive at least and would love to win a premiership and move to Div 6. These players don't bust a valve for nothing.

My apologies to you and and your mindset then, history shows that C Grade teams tend to stay put when they are given the option.

Most clubs want their C grade to be playing as high as possible to ensure that those coming up have played against a higher quality of player and team making it easier for players to comfortably slip into the higher grades. I know we're pushing hard to stay within Div 6 for this reason and have had several players move from d/c grade to debuting in the a grade.

My problem with the points system is that it seemingly doesn't take into account people moving for work/study related reasons. My other problem is that the demand for players exceeds the supply and average payment seems to have increased.

sorry for having an opinion..if they get relegated they go to a grade they can compete in..the school of tough love that has stood the SAAFL in great stead for decades..APPS it totally biased towards clubs like Modbury and GG for example with multiple juniors in high growth areas..as i said many months ago..please tell me how my club CLG is meant to rise up the ranks with no juniors of playing age at this stage, no old scholars and in a fairly stable demographic of older people? maybe we should just wallow in our mire and wait 7 years for our u/12s to come of age

your club is getting an unfair advantage over other clubs who dont have the resources of juniors, old scholars or population growth..so yeah thats really level eh?

Is that attributable to APPS? I wouldn't think so, unless the points per team are too high?
