Well done to Port Districts. Too good for our boys on Saturday. I wanna break the mould as well and say that their umpire did a fair job and not complain about the man in white (or orange or green or whatever he was wearing) Hopefully we will become a lot more accurate in the coming weeks as 5.14 wont win you many games of footy. We will be looking to improve each week as the new group get to know each others games.
I think the turning point in Saturdays game was the fact that Port did have 19 men on the ground for all of 3 mins and the point they scored really got them up and running
Good luck to the Port boys for the rest of the year. Looking forward to another crack at you in Round 11.

Yeah our ump goes alright apart from the fact he hasn't payed us a free in 2 years. With the 19 players, coaches and officials will have to be careful in the C section with the option to have 7 on the bench, it could be quite easy to overlook.
Even though we won by 10 goals I thought the midfield battle was an even one and if you blokes had of converted up forward in the first qtr it could have been a closer contest, which I'm sure it will be later on the year.

Good to get the first two wins on the board. Havn't done that for awhile in C1. One more win and will have equaled last years wins.

Apparently we arn't playing Ovies this weekend now. So that would mean they will be out for the rest of the year.

Now its up to the C1 clubs and the SAAFL wether they reprogram the division or just leave it with 4 byes in the year.

Wonder if they will change it to a final 4 series.

i'd assume that the 8 team competition would lead to a final four which makes sense to me.
c6 last year had 8 teams from the get go with an original final five which was changed to a final four two thirds of the way through the year.

What a Schamozzle. Based on the way C1 has been handled so far anything could happen. Hows this for a slightly idiotic yet creative idea...
Firstly get rid of all the byes immediately.
Secondly start the finals of C1 before all other comps.
Finally, go with the a top 8.
Nothing lifts a C grade teams spirits like knowing your in the mix for finals. My boys should be peaking around September so this would work out just nicely. ;)

Too many players are missing out on a game as is to only have 14 rounds, but unfortunately having the 4 byes would be the fairest way. Otherwise one side might be advantaged or disadvantaged by playing a lesser or stronger opposition more times than other sides.
Happened in C6 last year when we played 2 top 4 sides 4 times each and Modbury played 2 bottom 4 sides 4 times each

Congratulations Payney on kicking 15 of the 27 goals... Nice to see you and Gepps still take a keen interest in the C Grade.. Are they allowed in the home change rooms at training yet? Or are still treated like outsiders?

most GX people take a keen interest in the C grade as it has been the backbone of the club since"Louie Mailes" {? spelling} was the coach

anyhow , it's about time Clinton pulled his finger out.
might be making sure of his spot before the new recruit makes his appearance

Can I urge anyone who knows of any players who are not getting consistent games at their current club and may be interested in helping the Ovingham Football Club field a team for the rest of the 2010 season, to contact either Dave Slovenic or myself via pm.
Ovies must be given every opportunity to survive and there are players out there who would get some enjoyment, not only in playing each week, but helping to save this 100 year old club.
Please do your bit to help out, it doesn't take much to ask the question.

I put a lot of the blame on two factions for this disaster.

1. The Gypises that played at the club have done untold damage as do where ever they go.

2. The SAAFL with this stupid rule of teams being allowed to play 25 players per game which means clubs can hang on to players by giving them game time each week.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.
