i agree d/w why go on about a sandbagger when you could spend time talking about me!!! after all i won a D7R association medal in 2006 at the tender age of 40!! i do agree tho not much chance of anyone else gettn it this year with wes still goin round. question to everyone do you think (coz the umpires would know of players like wes) the umpires should not give votes to these players as my opinion is the votes should go to players playing well at that level, not players that of course will dominate as they are much higher level players, this is similar to clubs giving a-grade players that come back through b-grade or c-grade etc. due to injury or to regain form etc. best & fairest votes when they will be back up in grade in 1 to 2 weeks, isnt that a waste of votes as they will not play many games in the lower grades??????

Always so modest Bax i love it
You'll be a shoe in for the Old Farts Team of the Year wouldn't you?

I see your point but i think you give votes to whoever plays well on the day no matter who they are are what grade they usually play...I just hope to hell the umps aren't giving votes based on reputation and not how they perform.

as far as responses go, this is an absolute belter - well thought out and very correct
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much

Athelstone/Henley game was very close at 3/4 time, less than 2 goals in it. Athelstone had a bloke playing 200th game, got a bit of momentum and ran away with it in the last 10-15 minutes to make it a lopsided final result. Not a great reflection on the evenness of the majority of the game, although the way we played, probably deserved to get pumped like that in the end. Not sure about Athelstone, but Henley will be looking forward to a few players coming back in higher grades to push down some guys to fill a few gaps that have contributed to average performances over then past 3 weeks.

Would worry too much Riddler, stuff knows when these blokes will become available again, could be this week, could be first week of finals.......
Had a much weaker side this game than what we had Round 2 vs St Pauls....

And this is why Paralowie will romp home IMO!
c and d grade sides were always going to start well while they had full sides but over 4 sides with 2-3 injuries per side on average takes its toll.
That would be atleast 9 or so players of the c grade out that would play in first 2 -3 rounds
In saying that i hope not as id like to see the saints go well but cant see carey and his merry men letting their oppurtunity go like st pauls did last couple years!

Riddler sort your MOB out!

Agree, however, in 2004 Henley A-D Grades all won premierships. Teams were perfectly structured for each game of the finals. I'd be wary of them, although it does seem that they don't quite have the depth this year. It might be a moot point as they may not even make finals. I expect Angle Vale to have a far better second half of the season after having time to bond on and off the track and will probably sneak into fifth position.

Actually Bradman, traditionally Henley start pretty weak and pick up as the season goes on. That has happened for about 10 years straight now- it has even surprised us the good start we have had to the season. 2003/04 when we played in GF's, finished 5th both times, only just scraping into the finals. With all teams looking strong again this year, I would expect that with 4-5 weeks to go before finals there will be 100 blokes out on the track, fit and looking to secure a spot for finals in one of the 4 sides. The div 7 team only get to pick the 43rd - 64th best players at the club, so as long as we can hold on trhough the injuries and hopefully snag a top 3 spot, we should still be v strong come finals and able to match the Paralowie's and Mitchell Parks of the comp, not to mention Athelstone and Angle Vale, who I would think will make up the 5.

Was told a meeting was to be held at Athelstone last night to discuss the C and D Grade, the prospect of them advancing to Div 6, and whether this would actually be a good idea. It was suggested to me that they may fudge the C Grade so as to not make the GF, to which I replied 'bullsh*t'. They have the option of not advancing a grade, I believe, if they do of course play the GF.

Surely not  why would it not be a good idea? I couldn't see any club doing this.

Reliable enough to know that a discussion was to take place on whether it would be worthwhile having the C and D Grade play Div 6 next year.

Angle Vale v Mitchell Park
Sacred Heart OC v Flinders University
SMOSH West Lakes v Adelaide University
Paralowie v Athelstone
Henley v St Paul's College OS

- Not sure what is happening down at Owl Park but they are playing good footy. I'm tipping them in an upset at home by 17 points
- SHOC C grade struggling so Flinders Uni by 35 points
- Uni away from home by 61 points
- Paralowie i know are keen to avenge their defeat the first time around these guys played so i'm tipping them to fire up. Roos by 39 points
- Tough task for St Paul's but they may have turned the corner after last weeks win. Henley at home is always hard but if we wanna play finals have to beat these sides. Saints by 4 points with Novosel to kick the winner after the siren :)
