WC 2.10 at quarter time suggests it could have been alot worse?

A workman like effort by the Deez at Cudmore Tce., "Big John" Corbett had his charges focused and playing their own game against the local Rivals. Yes of course it was only their C Grade, we know! They mentioned it often enough. However we can only play and beat the teams we are scheduled to play and fortunately it was their 3rds and 4ths.

A couple of things I did enjoy were;
1. The unselfish work up forward where the Deez did not blaze away at goal, they searched for the player in best position...end result 12 goal scorers AND a more accurate scoreline. Great team work.
2. The development of some of the lesser known players and new recruits, always respected within the club but now stringing strong performances together alongside or in the abscence of, their more well known team mates. Good depth developing and less reliance on a few, more quality across the entire club.
3. And the involvement of the club's oldest recruit, taken in the Father Son Rule - when he speaks we all listen! Why wouldn't you! 8)

Well Done to 400 gamer "Gilly" you're very close IFFC and I hope your not far away, how about this week!
I understand The Mountain Men had their chances, well done to the Kooka's AND
The Hawks are the real deal even giving The Lions a head start!

Can anyone tell me what has changed with Lockley this year.....they've been around the mark over the past couple of years but i guess how do you say it, have been a little bit precious, in the harder faught games which they seem to be winning quit easily this year...

Nothing extraordinary or ground breaking, Just Home grown talent that is maturing into a quality playing group, with a sprinkling of local and country recruits introduced to the club through friends and family networks. A good blend of Under 23's with the potential to go further. However still have not achieved anything, just heading in the right direction. Of course their performances in the Major Rounds, if and when they make it, will answer the question of how far they have developed and matured.

A very exciting time for these players and the club, if things are kept on track and there are no distractions. Dare I say it? "Take it one week at a time" ;)

Seriouslly with such a young group that is the only way!

Div 6 Footy Tips Update

Five got five in Round 7 (highlighted in green). FC got bent over* by the Raiders forwards who couldn't hit the side of a barn, while a few tipsters fell over when they went for something other than vanilla by tipping Ingle Farm to upset the Roos. And, yes, we have a new leader, with Darth Demon stumbling for the first time this year, leaving watchdog to jump to the top of the pops.

29 - watchdog
28 - Darth Demon, LaughingKookaburra, TIRED TIGER
27 - Demon Juke, demonseye, Footy Chick, Ian, Lance's Brother
26 - bomberrob, carey, dee man, Phantom Gossiper, possum, Road to Glory, S Demon, The Riddler
25 - Lightning McQueen, The Bartman, zedman
24 - Bigshow82, Scorpion, The Real Number 3, unknown source
21 - Head Raider, The Ash Man
20 - morell
19 - Big Block, Farmer Hughesy
18 - Brayman19
14 - doggies

but Houghtons forwards in the 1st half were kicking some great goals, i was ready to leave near half time as i thought "here we go again". Glad to see that my tips are back on track again after my shocker last week. This week promises some TASTY clashes too! Houghton v CLG will be 1 of the games of the year and i'd suggest West Croydon will start warm fav's over the Kookas but you never know!

2.8 in the last. Blew several chances to take the lead, threw the game away - again.

Did think you did if you where second best. What position did you play? I just though as the best backman at Houghton you would have stood there best forward in osborne(9 goals)!

Anyone from Mitchell Park know how the fella who broke his leg is? He was apparently left on a stretcher for over 40 mins waiting for an ambulance

Best backman, you're being generous. Not a lot a defender could do about some of his goals, a few lace-outs and a couple of FADs, he had his goal-kicking radar on as well. Fullback/fullforward is the end of a long line - perhaps some of us players up the ground have to take responsibility for not doing enough to block the hole or put enough pressure on their ball carrier.

I've been playing HBF, probably for the same reasons Payney plays Groover there ;)

I was out at Henley oval on sat,and witness possibly the worst display of sportsmanship Ive ever seen. Henley would have to be the most undisciplined team in div 6 (others that were there said the same aswell). There was a lot of behind the play incidents, on the ball incidents. They need to have a real good look at themselves starting with the captain of that team that was possibly the worst leader Ive ever seen. He was the instigator of 90% of the incidents during the game and am pretty sure he got yellow carded as well. Leading from the front? I think not. He is the one person you would think sets the standard and i was amazed to see him set such a pore standard right from the get go.

Have any other teams experienced anything like that from the Henley boys this year? full credit to the lockleys lads who kept their head, and didn't get sucked in to this. As a saafl follower i had to come on here and express my opinion,i know that henley in all other grades are not like this.

Can't say my experiences with Henley echo your views. I reckon you're a bit wide of the mark with your assessment of Pitto as well, he's a great leader and one of the better CHB of the Div.

But we are all entitled to an opinion and I wasn't there on Saturday. Welcome to the forum.

I watched Henley play Ingle Farm the week before in what was a very hard fought contest and they were fine. No problems with their Captain either. The worst incident was one of the Henley players stirring Ingle Farm captain about his headband!
