I heard today umpire decided he had made a mistake with giving number 11 the red card and withdrew the report at end of game? pretty bad mistake meant pooraka were a man down in last qtr that they shouldnt have been.

Funny you say that mate, because when we played them a few weeks back, i thought they played right on the edge of being undisciplined too - they pushed things right to the limit with behind-the-play stuff and niggle in packs. They especially targetted Birdy and Prior that day. They were very, very good against us, but i just get the feeling that the way they play might bite them on the bum with more experienced umpires come finals time.

BTW, Mitcham top, Portland 2nd on the ladder...im salivating ! ;)

Yeah Fair call, We play pretty physical, hard and aggressive, but that is not a new thing for Pooraka, it is a fierce will to win and competetive spirit that sometimes causes a bit to boilover, however, there is always two sides to any story and we can stand up and get our lumps, no worries, but remember that we all have mirrors and have to look at ourselves sometimes, besides there are plenty of niggle in most games and if you don't want to oplay a physical, maybe badmington is more your thing.

Birdy and Prior were targeted? Who's Birdy and Prior? i would safely say that no-one at pooraka has heard of birdy or prior, if they got some treatment it wouldn't have been a plan or they had been targeted, we wouldn't target players why is any one or two players special, it's not how we go about it.

Apparently the umpire put the wrong spot on the ground where the fight took place so they both could get off on a technicality

Physical, hard & aggresive football is different to undiciplined football. Believe Muffler/Felch are more refering to unnecessary things off the ball - mouthing off to umpires, putting players heads into the group after a contest, etc. Usually things that result in 25 m penalties if umpires see them. There was a rediculous number of 25 m penalties paid on Saturday, I would say close to 20 (both ways).

If you don't know who Bird & Prior are - you aren't researching your opposition well enough. And you'd be silly not to target them, both good players from Portlands side.

Was it a bit drier down Port-way? 17 goals is a high score if you were in similar conditions to us - was very wet and slippery, and you'll be glad to know the quagmire in the middle is back ;)

i think if your coach doesnt know who Bird or Prior is he not doing his job an not doing alot of research. correct me if im wrong felch but i dont think you were meaning they werent being targetted in a dirty, physical manner more paying attention to keeping there impact on the game to a minimum as i think Birdy and Bowser can both handle themselves well enough if they were to be attacked physically. i rate Pooraka highly and i dont think they are dirty, i think Coghill will be a huge out for them if he is found guilty as he killed us across CHB

An interesting footnote to our recruiting this year.... On Saturday we racked up a total of -2 points on the player points allocation system. Might need to recruit next year maybe.....
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

I think GG, MFC and TTG are in the same boat this season Choccies. We had 2 players attract 2 points each but then had 2x16 year olds and 2x17 year olds

footnote: this was our most experienced team for the past month

I think the point was if we go out and play our own game we are good enough to beat anyone in div 3 so there is no need to target players. After all it is only div 3 amateur footy

Good win for us at GG who put up a good contest and made us earn the win with an undermanned side.

Must say, particularly impressed with GGFC - while they're not having a great season results wise, they appear to be run pretty well, have good facilities and a pretty good bunch of blokes. Cheers for the beers after the game, much appreciated!

Looking forward to mitcham this week. Crucial for both clubs top 3 aspirations, so hopefully get a few back from injury this week. Brad Finney back would be huge.

Muffler it happened right in front of the coaches box. Not sure you can fend someone off with force and with a clenched fist to the head as he did to Rowe. Rowey went down but cos the umpire didn't see it and rowey was down holding his head the umpire didn't know if he punched him or what happened that's why he was reported for rough conduct

It was a touch drier down our way, but our ground holds up well also. We did kick 9 goals in the first quarter, that always helps the scoreline. Only kicked 8 in the next 3 quarters.

And Piccachu, you are spot on - i wasnt saying they were targeted in a dirty way, but they definately knew who they were after - i was watching from right behind Pooraka's bench for a period of time !

Was a very good day at Golden Grove on the weekend. Well done to Golden Grove and the hospitality. Only problem for the day was the matchday offical in the last qtr. that sort of thing is not needed at footy games. Golden Grove B grade were impressive in the conditions and wanted it more. The guy on the bench with the jacket on gets fired up nearly taking it to far with the umpires (yes both were crap). Golden grove will be a force in the future.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

To say we have had a some bad luck this year would be a severe understatement..
*2 broken legs (season)
*1 broken arm (3-4 weeks)
*1 broken hand (season)
*1 knee (missed half the year. may return this week)
*our ruckmen got offered a 200k job away and now plays once every 3-4 weeks
*one of our newest recruits has played 2-3 games all year due to a changing work roster
*and we've had guys with niggling injuries who havnt trained or played for a month starting to work there fitness back up through the 2's
*Then to top it off 2 guys got bashed at savvy on the weekend (1 definitely wont play, the other to maybe miss 1)
Oh, and we also managed to lose 2 of our top 3 goalkickers from last year, our CHB and our ruckmen jus before the season started and ive probably missed some others
Welcome to the coaching world Scott Bamford ;)
