you guys did drop off in the last quarter. you'd fought hard to get a bit of momentum back in the 3rd. was a very hard fought, physical game

you're right, the depth is a bit of a concern but there's still a few out injured so should be ok.

A hard fought and fairly even contest out at Mofflin Reserve. After CU got out the blocks early with a 5 goal to 0 first quarter our lads showed great character to get their way back into the game in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Even though the scoreboard wasn't pretty early our stats showed we had more of the footy, double the inside 50's and were winning the around the ground clearances well - just couldn't reward our hard work on the scoreboard and trying to play dry weather footy in the wet. Early in the last quarter CU got about 8 points up and once again our young group responded. In the last 15 mins we got more numbers to the contest, won the clearances well and just worked a little harder than our opponents to get away with a 7 point victory. Good to get that first win up in what will be a very tightly contested season! Well done to big Adrian Zorich on playing his 100th club game and standing up in the last quarter when we needed him to!

Watched the first half and was a really good standard of footy.

very competitive tough encounter as the rain persisted all day but the skills stood up pretty well from both teams..strong effort by the doggies and never gave up..a vastly improved outfit and with good players to come into the group, you will underestimate them at your peril..a good ruck, some big forwards, better on ballers than last year and some good set ups..thanks to wayne and his boys for staying back for a drink after..

Central United, Mawson Lakes & Ingle Farm recruited well, Houghton always strong at home, BOS, CLG & TOS always fit, well drilled and around the mark, Lockleys and Woodville South coming down from Div 5 and Adelaide Uni always competitive..

A game may not have been played, but definately the makings of a rip snorter season...

Yeah for sure, best season ever.

Woody South to belt everyone.

Inside joke mate. One of the SAAFL umpires never showed up and BOS had one of their blokes do it.

No umpire no game....rubbish. I played 13 seasons of lunch time footy without an umpire or a coach! Played in some great sides and some absolute shockers. Kicked many bags too!

No argument Kookas, but, SAAFL, no umpire no game. That's their rules. I played backyard at MP when their wasn't rules and we kicked ars.. but we nearly killed each other. Had a beer after but. There is fun footy and rules. We need to live by the rules. Ain't sayin its good but is what it is.

Anyone got a score for the Woody South and Mawson Lakes B grade game? Not in the paper today and can't find it on sporting pulse.

Yeah I failed to mention a lot of these games were played @ Christies Beach High School and if there was a tribunal or police present we would have all been in serious trouble. Still remember a game on a school camp on Berri Oval where the sweetest coat hanger was laid on a bloke and he did 1.5 flips before he hit the ground flat on his back....... Got a free but because he couldn't take it PLAY ON!

i thought he did exceptionally well under somewhat unusual circumstances. by all accounts he was tucking into an egg and bacon sanga and a superdry after running for the b's and questioning numerous umpiring decisions only to be called on to step in for the a grade ump who didn't show.

missed a few, particularly one in then 2nd quarter at the northern end in front of the houghton coaches box but listened intently to the advice from everyone who had an opinion. even received a bit of advice from the BOS coaches box along the way as well.

Great day down at Ledger Reserve Saturday afternoon with 3 very good games of football being played. Woodville South have an amazing set up down there, their facilities are top class and would have to have one of the best club rooms in the league. In the main game the conditions probably suited us more then The Cats, they looked too big at times and didn't have enough blokes at the fall of the footy. Even with the rain the game was played at a very good standard. Adam Clifford is a star, one of the smartest players going round in Div 6 the way he just zones off and reads the play from CHB is as good as anybody I've seen, had a great dual with Smits all day. I got to give a special mention to a couple of our young defenders, one in Nicolas Dobbin playing his first A grade game ever and it's fair to say he gave Jeb Stubberfield a fair old pasting and the other Duncan Brown who held the dangerous Ramah Ahmed to 0 marks and 0 goals. Woodville South to me are still the measuring stick of the comp and on a dry day they will destroy teams and with Cattermole & Rayner still to come in they will be get stronger, glad we got them when we did but now we focus on Trinity to renew an old rivalry.

Round 3 and some interesting games in store that could start to separate the table early on, so here are my very early predictions -

Houghton (8th) v Central United (9th) - picking Houghton based on the current weather prediction in what will be a bruising encounter
Lockleys (5th) v Colonel Light Gardens (4th) - match of the round, Lockleys to continue good form of the last 2 weeks and win at home
Ingle Farm (10th) v Blackfriars (2nd) - not one BOS will want to drop. as Zed noted, Farmers not to be under estimated. BOS to win
Trinity (6th) v Mawson Lakes (1st) - an old scholars battle of yesteryear, now just suburban club v OS club. TOS to upstage more fancied rivals
Uni (3rd) v Woodville South (7th) - interesting, uni win on the road and lose at home. unpredictable. Cats to take the points home
