We had Brett Mathews (Angle Vale umpire) umpiring our game on the weekend and I thought he done a good job. I felt both him and the other umpire Neville Bassett were consistent in what they called and worked well together, a little touchy with some things but were consistant all day and thats all we can ask for. I feel the umpires deserve a positive plug when necessary.

Was wondering if Angle Vale have the opportunity to play home finals at Two Wells this season? If the ladder stays as is they will have earnt the right to host the final, just curious if they will be able to host it?

Yep totally agree bigshow. I was very suprised to see him but he did do a great job and was very chatty during the game. In a good way!
What did you say to them at Qtr time. Your lads came out and cut us apart. It was a tough day in our back line, seemed like you had 25 on the field at some stages. Great blokes to play against and was played in great spirit. Good luck for the rest of the year.

Cheers Cows. We have had a tough month leading up to the weekend and was good to get back in the winners circle. Our lads just needed to regain some confidence and back themselves in again and I feel we started doing that after quarter time. It was a big milestone match for Budge (#23) and the lads didnt want to let him down. All the best to your lads for the remainder of the season also.

From what I have heard, this is a great response by the SAAFL to some concerns within the division. Instead of taking Brett away from umpiring our division, they have moved him to other teams where he is neutral and prevent any speculation about his allegiance when umpiring.

Ah that is great to hear, well done Brett, Angle Vale and the SAAFL.

Think div7 will only have Brett's services for a short period though as he will climb the ranks quickly.

Yes, and you will need to win this saturday Haynzy or look out Sharks. Evan Bennetts was oustanding in ruck and pushes back defensively better than any in Div 7 and Sam Fairclough was at the top of his game with a few extra quality players around him. Henley are so clean around the footy and the stoppages it's scary.

After posting the question I had a look at the Two Wells fixture and it looks like first week of finals for saafl is the last minor round game for them and they are home. I would assume that means you guys would have to find another ground or play at a neutral venue?

Not sure how it works with finals allocation especially with Angle Vale using other ovals as home grounds whilst waiting for theirs to be ready? Can you pay the money for a home final then say it will be played at an oval of your choice?

Think you will find that if Two Wells can't be used then the League will allocate an oval and it will deemed as neutral. I would suggest Angle Vale wouldn't be able to buy a home final if their home ground is unavailable. Would be similar for TTG C grade if they hang on to 2nd spot and their A's finish 2nd and want a home final then the C's will play where the league put them.

Not so star studded Saturday Ram when the real star "studded team" came to play. Shuperman got through ok and won't miss this week, but after missing a couple of sitters he might have to go back to the ressies for goal kicking practice. You still got your suit on?
