Let me guess marbles, that was either the AV ump or the old grey haired fella who seems to live at North Pines oval.

Um the rule wasnt paid, there was just a mini debate out there that it was a rule and curious if its true?

With the umps they both had grey hair (which just isnt acceptable ;) ) but where they come from i have no idea. Last few weeks the umps have been blokes weve never seen :? and i doubt theyve been coming from any of the clubs and where theyre coming from is a mystery ? :?

Interesting one Marbles
I always thought no player can enter the square once the umpire has commenced his approach, but look at the actual rule:

11.3.4 Permitted Numbers at the Centre Bounce
When the football is bounced to start a quarter or recommence
play after a Goal has been scored, the following shall apply:
(a) a maximum of 4 Players from each Team are permitted
in the Centre Square;
(b) no Player (other than the 4 initial Players) or Team
Official shall enter the Centre Square from the time the
field Umpire commences their approach to the Centre
Circle to bounce the football until the football touches
the ground, in the act of bouncing, or leaves the field
Umpire’s hand, in the act of being thrown up;

It is not clear whether that is correct or not.
It should say what I have included in red

great work jimmy

looks a little room there for uncertainty hey

if the issue came up, then its likely the rule has been paid before

i dont see a penalty is required if a player runs in to make up numbers, but it may be conflicting to a boundary umpire who sees a player run in and thinks its a discrepancy blows a whistle, holds up play incorrectly only to hear the player running didnt actually break the rule.

a conflict of interests could eventuate

I have always thought that no-one could run in once the umpire began his approach, and I reckon that's what the intention is

Agree with Jimmy here, I have always believed that once the umpire begins his approach, any one else that enters the square is encroaching and a free kick is paid against, whether you have 2, 3 or 4 players inside the square is irrelevant

Maybe we can try it out next week against each other marbles. I won't say anything if you don't and we will test the umpires decision making under pressure. Just like we do with our players.

Nic Meiers the hero for Henley yesterday with a great kick for goal after the siren. Probably the last bloke the team would want to take that kick, but he pulled through.
From what I've heard Angle Vale deserved to get the points. A loss of composure by the AV A grade coach, giving away a number of 25m penalties for abusing the umpire in the last quarter causing a momentum shift.
Good effort by the Owls, Henley had a fairly strong team from what I am told.

Does anyone rate Meiers a sneaky chance to win the D7 medal this year? Has done it before. I guess someone from Mtichell Park would be favourite, and have heard a couple of names from TTG mentioned on here aswell.

dunno if it was their coach. Prob one to forget for all, whoever it was. vales were immaculate at times though, they went 4 goals up early in 2nd then we came back to be about 2 goals up then they came back to go 3 up then we came home with late run to win.

In the last quarter the scoreboard controller skittled, we thought we were up already even before he meiers kicked goal haha only to win by 5 points. chain of about 500 unusual little events caused the whatever result. one in a million sort of game

Love your work lutzy. Seroiusly, reckon Mitchell Park have too many who will steal votes from each other, bit like the Cats. :lol: I think Mount from TTG would be a shoe in, runner up 2011 and lives with 20 umpires.

Congratulations to Peter "Budge" Walker who plays his 250th game for the Nth Pines Football Club this Saturday against Flinders Park. A true champion of the club.

Yea you would think so, but winning so many games, you would think one of your mids will go close. Most guys who I know that have won association medals have been from the top side.

Good point marbles. Congrats to Smithfield, talking to Bigshow82 after our game saturday we both agreed that they were super hard to put away and refused to give in. You guys had a good battle with them too. They've made massive headway this year and with TTG, Modbury and Nth Pines to come they will be no walkovers. Best wishes to everyone out there who have put in the hard yards. Have a couple of players who would be close to make the team of the year too for mine. =D> =D>
