Sharky, do you know if Uni had more of their senior players from last year in their team? saw that their reserves won so I assume some senior players are returning.

another two or three but still looking at a turnover of about 50% of the div 1 & 1 Res sides (at least) in comparison with last year.

Looks like they had a couple more coming back, saw a few faces i recognise. Spoke to one of their supporters and he rekons they will be primed for about 3 - 4 weeks away. A little too late if thats the case i rekon.

No worries Carey, and I'm not sure what the difference is, but from what I've heard the Club has been more than impressed with the commitment shown by the two players in question. Not just training, but functions also, definitely setting a good example.

On a different note, and as a new-comer to D1, which Club's are normally the powerhouses in the Reserves, seems fairly divided between good and bad so far, not a lot in the middle?

over the last 8-10 years, goodwood and the uni blacks. seaton played off in the gf last year but are relegated. the blacks have lost heaps so will probably be mid range.

have to agree with you about it being a little to late, but I suppose by then they will be deperately trying to stay out of the relegation zone.

Unfortunately after last years celebration it could only go down hill from there. Most blokes played 1 more year instead of retiring. Now most of em have. Never been out of A1..........to be continued.

Agreeg kookas, why oh why would you even consider him as the coach to take that club further than last year. Behind the times, the days of coaches like him are limited.

something along the lines of mason leaving late to norwood and the difficulty in hiring coaches in January as most decent ones would have been snaffled by clubs. hasn't been helped by loss of players though. i guess we'll find out in due course.

At Goodies only 4-5 players get paid every week and other than maybe Adrian Burton NO ONE gets anywhere near that amount of money. I hear the club has a good atmosphere and that is what draws players there, and thats why they stay.

Footynut you are spot on! GSF you say none of those others get anywhere near $300 & I think you might be right :D Demasi, Webb and Spencer in particular I'm sure would fit in the $400>$600 bracket. This fictional nonsense that Goody Saints don't pay, needs to be put to bed; no problem with them paying players but it is very tiring hearing the same old we "don't pay big dough" routine year after after year... Rubbish!!!!!!

Jayne, you're entitled to your thoughts, but I am only telling you the facts that I know. Even if they were paying that type of money they are at least getting the results from it. I'm sure plenty of other teams (and players themselves) would like to be in the position the Goodwood Saints are.

Could not agree more. Know someone on the board there, and he reckons they pay about 55k. So probly add another 10 to that... if not more. Like it or not, 80% of saafl clubs pay more than 50k per year +
If winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?
