I see in the SAAFL news they have named all the new coaches from Div 1 to Div7. In Div 6 there is no Henly or Adelaide Uni and in Div 7 there is no Modbury, SHOC, TTG, Athelstone but teams like Ovies, Nth Pines, Wingfield, do i read into this that there may be a C and D grade Div?

Mitchell Park
North Pines
Ovingham
Wingfield Royals

Apparently...

Fair few trips North for Parkies, Flinders and Glenunga if that was to be true. :(

Still better than that Div 6/7 North & South idea.

I kinda liked the concept of not having to travel so far every second week, it was just unfortunate that there would have been such gaps between the top and bottom teams.

I read it as naming every clubs A grade coach and possibly lazily just putting the 1 team clubs under Div 7.

Yep me too! pretty sure we haven't applied for div 7 for 2011... looking for 2012 though!

Not a fan of the North/South Divisions. If people want to whinge about travel speak to the Country Footballers.

I do like the thought of the SAAFL pushing for a Div 8. Could have the likes of Port Districts, PAOC, Golden Grove, Gepps Cross, SMOSH/West Lakes, Wingfield, North Pines, Ovingham, Adelaide Uni, Salisbury North in it. That way the Bigger Clubs could push for their Cs to play in the highest grade possible, mixed in with the smaller clubs.

There will be carry over points from last season but existing blokes on your list will go down 1 point for next season as they are already part of your club (ie. Rob O'gorman came to us as 3 points, next year he's worth 2)....So depends on what Bourkey & Co came in at last year as to what they will be this year.

Thanks Riddler.

Time to do some maths.
Bourke would've been worth 2 in 2010, so will be worth one in 2011.

Nurton, Buss, Karvelis and co will all be worth two this year.

Perhaps they have not announced any new coaches for these teams, although i have heard there are new coaches for the Athelstone C+D grade jobs after a falling out between last years coaches?

Any player on the field is subject to points, regardless of whether they're coaching or not.

I've heard similar about the Raggies jobs. Dave 'Herb' Harris who has been instrumental in making Athelstone's C grade a competitive unit has apparently taken on the B grade job. Harris has been responsible in getting the ex A graders down to the Cs eg Whenan, Carr, Grossman, Warner etc etc. This might hurt their Cs and Ds with Athelstone doing the right thing by their club and picking a respected clubman into a higher position.

Angle Vale look to have lost their No.1 Ruckman and arguably their No.1 Player Scott Burgess to Two Wells. Looks like they may need to spend some of that reported cash they have.

Bourke, Smith and Roberts will have carry over points too. Has anyone at Glenunga got a calculator cos looks like they'll need it. Not sure 17 or 18 goes into 15?

Interesting.

The system should make Glenunga be way more over than that though IMO.

I thought it was only Div 1-3 players may be hard for these boys to go back to Fitzroy if they cant get them under the magical 15
