Congrats to Goose on being appointed the A grade coach. I think it's an excellent decision by the club to give the nod to someone who has proven their dedication to the club over years of hard work rather than going with a "big name". Good luck Goose!
I hear what you're saying....It sounds to me like "WAAA WAAA BLOODY WAAA"

Just from last year, i know both had some retiring. Both need to pick up some players of quality to firm their place in Div 1. But i think they should be alright. I know we have done alot of work to get back up into Div 1 after a year, so i'd like to think we will stay there for many years to come again.

He has indeed, spoke with him on the weekend, the voice is quite high for a grown man, high enough to be either a "soprano" or a "hungry squirrel"

so what are people's thoughts on how pt districts will go next year? the word for this year was that they were doomed, and yet they defied everyones expectations (maybe even their own :) ). i reckon most would expect them to finish in the 5 this year.
also, who would people pick to be the big movers both up and down the ladder for next year?

It's a bit early to be making too many predictions, at least wait until Santa has been. ;)

Districts did look doomed early until the return of their master saviour Alfred Steed.
I'm not to sure whether they'll have someone capable of filling the huge hole Alf is going to leave in the side coz apparently his boots are hung up this time definately.
I know its only 1 player but hey what a huge influence he had on that side when he donned that black & white jumper.
Sorry i'm not to confident in them making the top 5 but it is very early isn't it?

They started slowly, were very average got better and finished the season surprising most. For the first time, I have to agree with you NM though regarding them next year, but it is very early. Good to see you so keen BOP, gather you are over your injuries and set for big season.

IMO its hard to judge how Pt Districts will go, looked to struggle in patches last year but fought well and last yrs div 1 it was so extremely even, not much separated the sides they showed they could match it with the best i think they will be marginally off the pace of the front runners but prob push for a finals berth..

Does the Port Magpies have a big bearing on how Districts line-up yr to yr; with the way that the maggies are in dire straits it seems like the very heartland of the port are in fact not making it any easier on the survival on Port Adl'.

Please dont think this is a direct stab at Port Dist more so on all the ammo clubs surrounding Alberton !?

actually, that is a very good point. we could probably have a whole topic on this issue itself.
surely as the season goes on, the more the surrounding clubs would benefit one would think. if the maggies head down the path everyone thinks they will and fold at the end of next season that is.

No folding of anything at the Magpies except the laundry.

Could be interesting to see if Ex Port Magpies players are steered / lured towards Tylors Hawks next season and beyond.. There are already a small contingent from the Magpies already residing out in the Nth.

Might be changing the emblem to a bird then Winger, the Salisbury North Magpies has a good ring to it but...... one Magpie club in Salisbury is ample I reckon.
