Nice try though.

c'mon Quichey don't lie on here mate...Houghton have contacted a number of players offering them big coin...i know this for a fact!

Big coin?! You are kidding aren't you?

Mate, the club hasn't got the funds to offer anyone big coin. Could maybe offer a couple of blokes fifty bucks a game, maybe up to a hundred, but we chose to look into rewarding the entire playing group as I have stated above.

I have personally analysed all financial records and it's not possible to go beyond what has been put in place. The only likelihood that blokes will be individually paid next year is if new or existing sponsors put their hand up to specifically finance such a situation.

I know of three or four players who have been approached, but they have not asked for money and neither have they been offered it.

I've heard otherwise Quichey (as i said earlier someone has approached one of my players and a good mate of mine) we may have to agree to disagree

So, you know of one person.

A bit different to your statement "Houghton have contacted a number of players offering them big coin".

Perhaps contact was made before the meeting regarding finances last week. Or perhaps a sponsor has put their hand up. Don't know mate, a lot can happen in a week.

Drunk idiots. At least they'll find out this Sunday what the club is trying to do for them.

I reckon I know what happened regarding your players. Tony probably heard they were thinking of leaving and put Cab into contact with them. Not sure if any offers were made but I'm 99% sure of one of the names. So he is staying after all? I know he gets offers every year from other clubs, but when I bumped into him at the Alma he said he was staying put. No chance of us getting any of your blokes thinking of leaving anyway, not now that we are in the same Div.

Yeah had a feeling Tony would have put the word to Cab...Yeah that person is staying, could leave for a much higher grade and for $$$ but has remained loyal to play with his mates and i'd like to think new coach may have helped him make the right decision :D

I think a few of our lads have stayed just so they can play Houghton again

uni has had their c grade, like henley in div 7 and div 6 the last few years - generally competitive unless you count the aberrrant 2006 season. the e grade has won the flag in div 8 and c1 the last three years. are you sugggesting that uni would then slide into the remnant grades - eg c2 to c5? not be sarcastic just curious - i'm sure henley would like the almost guaranteed flag given their performance last year.

i can see that the other sides would have a good competition though but personally i like the reflection of the upper grades in the c competition.
nah finn barring uni, speaking of the other clubs, i only named uni coz they were already in div 7 but div 8 was only because of how many teams you have, so they can double up and play on same ground , day etc

I am pretty sure I know who the two players your referring to are, and there is buckley's chance either of them will leave to go play for Houghton, one of our biggest rivals since 2004. Better chance of players leaving to play in a higher div than playing for Houghton, you can count on that.

I think they'll be the first to admit they struggled last year and finished 8th but I can say when we played them they were pretty competitive and even beat us once.

Just wondering what they were like as a side. I have heard they are starting pre season next week. Must be keen to move back up the ladder for next year.

Any other Div 7 sides starting that early?

They lack depth so they'd want a big influx of players for next year...must be very keen to be starting next week, bit too early i think.

St Paul's are starting first week in January.

Who would one of these mates be? Im sure the coaches are bringing enough with them as they have been chasing ex players from the Pines. Would only be expecting 5 or 6 from this years team to be playing A Grade next year. Confident we will have 2 teams.

We start mid-November. Once a week on Wednesday, but purely skills based stuff. Just to have us kicking a footy again and to get the lads together for a few beers afterwards.

Coincidentally, our 'Meet the Coaches' is this Sunday at the Clubrooms from 1pm. Anyone keen for a kick and a catch next season is welcome.

I think Browny will be keen as it appears Brahma Lodge signed Payney from Eastern Park last night and they also signed 5-6 players according to the 2009 coaches forum via the Buglar
