Thought it might have been that one, played well against us the first time, luckily for us he was in Qld the second time

Our Staggy's 2 hamstrings are in Qld this weekend. But he'll be back.

Well, 2 weeks ago it was only going to be 2 weeks but his doctor has since advised that it would be best not to play again this year. And yes, he will be missed.

You will miss Whenan. Grossman and Hopper and these sorta guys will have to carry a bit more of the load, and if Duigan, Thompson and Robertson are still out, you've got some fair talent sitting on the sidelines.

Since the season is almost over, has anyone got any predictions for the McKay Medal? I don't think anyone has particularly stood out, I reckon 15-16 votes will probably win it this year, unlike last year where Matt Jolly polled 32 I think. Tyson Burrows from PNU will probably poll well, Luke Abell from Athelstone has dominated both times against us but not sure about the rest of his season. Same for Scott Thompson. Calabrese from Old Iggies stands out a bit too with some decent skills for a big bloke, he'll probably go alright. Anyone else got any picks or anything?

Without worrying about our blokes (those who know me will know why), I can name a few more...

Sam Fritsch, James Pinkney - Pembroke OS
Josh Gould - Walkerville
Louis Martin - PNU

Both times tyson has played athelstone he was a class act, so i would put money on him to win..... but for the raggies i recon abell & skurrie would be best for the raggies..... calabrese stands out but both times the raggies played iggies he wasnt that great. Thompson was great early but since has been moved onto a hbf where he hasnt been that dominent. All captians have a great chance of winning this award as ive seen in the past.

To be honest with you all, I recon anyone can win this award because we all know how bad the umpiring is in div 3 who said they know the difference between a player & quality player.

examples - wayne weidemann (gaza), julian wait (port districts) & mark hawkins (seaton ramblers). Dont tell me they had stirling seasons when they won the medal. Id love to see anyone tell me different.

Louis as a dark horse you think??? While he might have played well on both occasions against Athelstone, his season otherwise has been fairly ordinary by his standards, I'd pick James Kollias as our next best placegetter, or perhaps Kano

Yeah Irvine's hair may catch him a few, was probably BOG against us the first time. Blu, what exactly is your role at Athelstone mate?

Pag, I've got a hand in most things. The reason for not commenting on our blokes chances is that I count the B&F votes. I can be bribed though.

Tips for Round 18...

Pembroke OS vs PAOC (PAOC are getting better, but it's at the rectangle again)
Flinders Park vs Eastern Park (FP are a quality side now, not that it matters)
Payneham NU vs Salisbury (A win gets us out of relegation, hopefully)
Athelstone vs Pooraka (Easily)
Walkerville vs Old Ignatians (Probably a preview of next week)

At least the B grade has some finals spots still up for grabs. Walkerville, Pembroke OS, Eastern Park and Payneham NU fighting for the last two spots, with Walkerville still capable of getting the double chance if they win and other results go their way.

Venues for this weeks finals...

Divison 3
QF - Pembroke OS v Payneham NU at Haslam Oval, Pembroke College
EF - Walkerville v Old Ignatians at Walkerville Recreation Ground

Division 3 Reserves
QF - Prince Alfred OC v Walkerville at Walkerville Recreation Ground
EF - Salsbury v Eastern Park at Haslam Oval

Personaly, don't think Haslam Oval should get finals at all. Went there last year, wasn't good.

15 minutes into the third quarter it was a tip with my head... :D

Agree with that blu, not much fun at all. Would PAOC be feeling a little bit peeved that they have to play a final, in which they finished higher, at the oppsitions home ground? I know Walkerville's A Grade earnt the home final, but they're B Grade didn't, and I'm sure PAOC aren't happy they have to play an away home final when it really should be at a neutral ground.

Yeah, they wouldn't be happy. It is the case though unfortunately for them. In the SAAFL Finals Handbook is states that the league will match up the B grade with the A grade on the same ground regardless of where the B grade sides finished on the ladder.

Good to catch up with you yesterday Pag.

Yeah I can see why they do it, just so the club doesn't have to split up and and trainers and supporters are all in one place etc.

Yeah it was good mate, good thing you picked me out or I would've walked straight past all day you to get around to the bar. I'll probably see you and Lisa both down at Haslam Oval on Saturday, should be a good game in the A Grade.

Yep, I'll be there. It will be a good game. The oval size will make it a more physical affair than it would have been on a bigger ground. From my perspective, that is a good thing.
