Happened either late Friday night or Saturday morning. Got a phone call Saturday morning saying the goal post fell down. The council is fixing it this week

A good day for a triple header up at Harpers Field on Saturday for our Breast Cancer Awareness day against Pooraka and unfortunately for us things got worse as the day went on. Our C grade had a good win first up and were never headed despite Pooraka kicking a few late goals to make the scoreboard a bit better looking. The B grade played the middle game and a fantastic game it was for both sides I thought. Both sides hard at it all day, skills very good for the 2's and I'd say Pooraka are a fair bit better than where they sit on the ladder especially with a few older A graders running around in there but I reckon a draw was a worthy result because both sides played well enough to deserve a win. Then there was the A grade game...... Pooraka were way too strong for us and had a well deserved win in the end. Not much more to say really apart from the fact that our lads will keep plugging away and working hard to try get a couple of wins in teh next few weeks.

Well done to the Pooraka lads as well who stayed behind for a few brews and to sit thru the auctioning of the pink guernseys which I believe we raised near to $10,000. Thanks boys.

As for the footy, well, there's always next week !!
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Whats that 4 weeks in a row?
Was at the Dome sat & early i thought we were going to see an upset result with Pembroke coming out all guns blazing & Portland struggling, Pembroke were 13 pts up at half time.
The 2nd half was all Portland, they started winning the clearances & played alot longer, hitting targets cleaner by hand & foot, far better than the 1st half which was nothing short of diabolical as a result 10 goal to 0 in the 3rd qtr.
I thought Bird was great, he set it up for Portland with some outstanding hard ball gets & moved the ball on quickly, he's a hard nut that lad i like the way he goes about it as with little Upton who went forward in the 2nd half & didn't let his mates down kicking 6 goals, the slow starts must be concerning for the Thunder who won't get away with it against the likes of Mitcham & SMOSH.
This weeks game vs Mitcham will be a real test as i believe Mitcham are the side to beat along with SMOSH.

David Bird is a good player and should still be at the Port Magpies.

Make sure you get Erin Phillips look-a-like to show us his self proclaimed goal kicking prowess.
They are straight to their word, they don't talk a lot of smoke and mirrors behind windows.

Probably worth focussing on Daniel Seagull Mcadam as he is quite the ladies man these days, girls are literally falling over themselves to get with him
I have a problem. It's to do with the little man, the squashed-in French man, the naked little squashed up hairy boy! You know! With the hand feet

O think you were meant to say falling over themselves to get away. Or the fact they are trying to get pictures of a rarely sighted non sunburnt albino.

Im not sure of his name, but the blonde mop hair lad for SMOSH along with Evans and Mazey formed a dangerous combo and caused headaches for PH undersized defence all day.
Liked Foulis and in particular Netschitowski games yesterday, they gave SMOSH alot of drive out the guts and Netschitowski could have kicked 5-6 and was clearly best afield. I am unsure of his name but the CHB for SMOSH had a great battle with Flynn all day and probably just took the points until Flynn was moved down back in the last quarter?? Both guys are quality players and it was a very intriguing battle.
Like the look of Goodwin, he is a little terrier and never gives up. He Kicked 3 and was best for PH for mine. Also liked Thachs game. Who along with Goodwin and Flynn can all hold their heads high after yesterdays loss. Ran hard all day and provided alot of run and carry by taking the game on and kicked 2 great goals on the run.
PH have alot of passengers and their bottom tier players really struggle to assert any influence on the game.
The ladder is taking shape with SMOSH, Flinders, Portland and Mitcham starting to hit their straps and from all reports it seems a 4 horse race. That 5th position is still up for grabs. but whoever gets it out of Seaton, Pooraka, Para Hills and Pembroke are probably just making up the numbers.

Pretty good summary of the match. I thought the final margin wasnt a true indication of how close the game was. SMOSH kicked more accurately throughout the game and were in control after quarter time.. Not making excuses but we were down to 1 on the bench after quarter time due to 2 injuries early on and then had noone on the bench after halftime due to the red card. After a good first 4-5 games of the season we have really dropped right back in the pack after 2 consecutive 8-10 goal losses. Cant blame the injuries, but the do take their toll. I said last week i was looking forward to a few other guys stepping up, but it seems like the message still hasnt got through. Hoping for an improved performance against FP this week.

A couple of the younger lads in the 2's have been pretty impressive, maybe time to send a couple of long term "A" graders back for a reality check.

I see Josh draper is having a run around in the B grade for Portland. I know he played a bit of footy at the maggies... Surely a chance of getting an A grade guernsey?

Yeah you would think josh will or should play A grade some time this year. Definately has the ability to and i would think its just a question of whether he thinks his body will hold up alright cuz i know he had a terrible run with injury during last cricket season and he wouldnt want that to happen again.

ATTENTION PORTLAND LADS.

Satchel has the carton of red cans - don't let him tell you any differently.

As Fisty was nowhere to be seen on the night, he is not to partake in any drinking of said carton.
