Lockleys have approx 4 outs (handy players but not key players). Approx 6 ins which include a mobile ruckman who has played reserves footy, 1-2 key fwds and another couple of players from country vic. I cannot comment to how good these guys are as I dont like to speculate, but looking at them on the track they look handy enough for div 6. Would expect the players in will cover the players out with interest. They are also talking to 3 A-grade players from the SFL which are very good friends with one of the Lockleys boys. If they were to sign these 3 players, they would be key ins for 2009. Overall I expect Lockleys to be stronger than last year. How much stronger is yet to be seen. Top 4 is there goal. Im sure the top 5 teams will be very competitive against each other, same as last year. I dont predict any 1 team will dominate this year. Consitency will be the key to play finals.

BW you say that possibly 3 SFL A grade footballers are in the mix? what sort of standard of footy would div 6 be to A grade SFL? would they be happy to be big fish in a small pond??

Any names or SFL clubs?
How is Kane Stewart travelling is he on the track?

Shoe Boy it's a good question you raise about standards. Definatly in 2005 I would have rated our div 6 gf losing side to be 7-9 standard in the SFL. Ok we lost a trail convincingly to Flaggstaff Hill at the start of they year but we seriously had no more than 6 A graders playing in that match as it was Clipsal weekend. The real difference is proffessionalism, most SFL clubs are pretty organised where as 95% of div 6 clubs play week by week with no real structure, something which improves as you jump grades in the SAAFL. Saying that now I beleive the SFL standard has improved in the 5-10 brackett over the past 3 years and I'd doubt div 6 grand finalists would make the SFL top 8 now. But sometimes you get real strong sides in div 6 (Eastern Park 98, Para Hills 2000, Elizabeth 2005 and Golden Grove 2007) that really would surprise you with the standard of footy they produce.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

playing in both leagues, SFL and SAAFL i would say the SFL league was stronger at the time i was in it. But coming together to play other leagues over the week break all leagues have mid season they didnt seem to put it together. so you would think SAAFL is the stronger league in that aspect. But havent played any off the div 3 sides or above in the SAAFL so i might be wrong, trained with Walkerville a few years ago when i returned from Darwin and they look pretty professional, think they were in div 2 that year. made the NTFL league i played in look like a kick and a giggle in the park on a sunday afternoon.

SFL is a lot stronger than div 6, only a handful of players in each team would play regulary in the top SFL teams. Harvey from CLG was a old SFL boy from Cove. Although he was a regular starter in the A's, he wasn't Coves key forward for them. The top 4 teams would equipe themselves well in Div 1. The next 6 would probably be about a div 2 standard. But this is a old debate and only my personal opinion. The Sfl has many ex league players playing in the comp, just the depth may not be as strong as there is 16 teams in the league and the bootom 4 do struggle somewhat. Any SFL A-grade player would be a very good pick up in div 6

Sorry not sure of players names or clubs. I would'nt say div 6 is a small pond, there are some handy players floating around. Just the teams dont have the full depth of 18 really good players in each team. Kane is on the track. Has been a huge pick up for us. He just needs to keep his hamstrings sound. His goals per time played last year was equal to anyone. I cant get on the saafl web page but farly sure he kicked over 30 goals in 10 games, in which he wouldve only played the equivalent to 5 full games. From what I can see the fwd line at lockleys this year should be quite potent.

harvey not a dominant forward in the sfl? probly because he played full back for them! harvey would be a walkup star in ANY team in the SFL. there is no way in hell that you say the next six about div 2 standard, that is a joke, you are saying 8th in 2008 morphetville park would be competitive in division 2in 2008 against, PHOS, SHOCS, MODBURY etc.....get off the grass mate

Harvey is a very good player don't get me wrong, but if you looked at coves fwd line, I'm pretty sure they rated ramsay (c) and there full fwd (who was almost the best in the comp) as there 2 best fwds

Another would be sid visser, played at Brighton. A very very good player in div 6 (along with harvey I rate as 2 most handy players at CLG), but wasn't a dominant figure in the sfl. Again with Josh Ramsay, a very handy player but was no stand out at marion. Appartantly CLG has again picked up marion boys. Would you say they would be handy for you scottroo?? Even if they were fringe players I say they would be in div 6

I personally think it would be a mistake by all to take Glenunga lightly... We have always had good battles with them.

Even though i tipped them to finish bottom!
