Hmm does it prove/show that a C1 team is better than a div 7r sides then?
Lol, well you'd expect an 'A' grade side to easily account for 'D' grade sides.

Reckon there was only 2 from the weekend that hadn't played in round 1 and 2, one was myself (which I put my hand up to play last week before they changed divs) and Pete Uncle.

From my understanding a lot of older guys retired after their win last year so I am not too sure about any coming back

I hope that you can fight a bit better for the Gullys than you did in the front bar of the Mawsons..........

Bit rough, unless half the side has changed that dramatically, they're a good bunch and no mindless thugs amongst them..
I do agree though, a stand alone A grade side should play in C grade comp, however i also dont think there is a problem with having a club like ovies that only has one side.

Yep... Bitten my tongue for weeks now but this is where I draw the line. There will be no sudden influx of players to the C Grade. I have instructed the coaching staff that the players who actually came out, trained, and had their collective arses handed to them in div 6 will be given a game as a priority over anyone else. I will not tolerate any speculation of TTG prepping a C grade team for a premiership as it is a blatant untruth. We are damn lucky that the SAAFL let us into a div where we can be competitive and give our Div 1R fringe players an environment where they can regain form as opposed to getting belted by 40 plus goals per week and trying to push for selection... Not really ideal.
As a club, we know how fortunate we have been to be offered an opportunity by the SAAFL to remain in a competitive div for the remainder of the season. We will always play to win no matter what competition we are in, but we will do so with players that deserve to be in the team and that have shown their commitment to their club, not with players who cherry pick and are there to fulfill individual goals.

Fair call, it's a tough spot Ovies are in, they have Fitzroy, Kilburn, Blackfriars all within close range, West Croydon, Broadview even Gaza & Flinders Park not much further. Small ground, even smaller facilities, it's great to see them at least putting together a team of blokes who want to enjoy themselves and have a kick and catch on a weekend.
Who cares if they only have 1 side or no juniors, it's still another side that teams get to play against, and the club still provides a service to the community by having a side and gives a chance to those who may not be good enough or struggle to get a kick at the bigger clubs a chance to play footy still.
CARN OVIES!!
