wristwatcher wrote:Today was easily the most embarrassing day of my football career. Not because a young fair and respectful young footballer bested me in most contests I competed in. Not because we could not find a way to stop number 26 from the tigers as he was awesome. Best C grade performance i have seen in a long time. That's why I still do this, you get to see young footballers come of age and rip a game to pieces
It's because today the umpire could have been hurt in a senior game of Footy Via an assault.

Today's game was a disgrace. :( the worst thing I've ever seen. No the worst moment. Almost surreal. It should never happen. Umpire assault is not acceptable. Never under any circumstance

Action is been taken, and I am sure you guys will be notified of the outcome out of courtesy.

No 26, young Georgie, played a blinder. He has been in pretty good form for us, his working schedule does restrict him to just C grade, which is great for us, but would also fit in well with the B grade.

As a current player of brahma I hope the penalty is severe and reflects the direction in which the the club is heading. Abuse of officials in any capacity can not be tolerated. If the bottle had struck the umpire ( I'm told it was thrown with significant force and narrowly missed) the player in question would have been looking at an extensive suspension or possible life ban I would have thought?

I'm definately not suggesting a life ban should be imposed but I would think he would be lucky if he played any more than a handful of games this season

=D> =D> Thats what i would have thought as well Nev,I must admit that after talking with a few pnu players they were very disapointed that the coach allowed this player to return to the field later in the game.If that was me i would have sent him straight to the showers and then asked him to leave the grounds. You dont need guys like that around your club as you said you guys have been working hard to change the culture of the club,im afraid this has set you guys back abit.

The club has acted in a manner to do the best it can to punish the player, we hope he learns from this otherwise he is free to leave the club.

I am right here......

I definitely would have done things differently if I had my time over again. No doubt. Cant dwell on it now as it has passed and I cant change anything that happened on the day. It definitely has been a learning experience, and will come out better from it. I did PM wristwatcher and express my regret on putting him back on. The club has imposed a ban, have contacted Payneham and the SAAFL and notified of the actions taken, and we move on. We will continue to push in the direction we were travelling before Sat (massive inroads have been made from 3-4 years ago), we definitely have gone back a few steps after a lot of good work by many to get the club heading in the right direction.

Well said Masha i reckon we have all done things in the past which we wish we could change, but at the end of the day you didnt throw the bottle and its great to hear you and the club have taken care of matters. All the best for the rest of the year and hope we have a better game next time, but we both may need to find some better umps to make it an honest contest, and im sure your club will keep moving forward like it has over the last few years.

moving onto the Footy
Masha under all sorts of pressure this week to win, especially with the start studded over 35 stars that have been included

The committee has basically said that if they dont win this week with these ring ins then he will be asked to step down - a previous C Grade coach at The Lodge has already been approached ;)

No pressure, picked the best side he felt was available. As a coach you cannot do much more then this, including another 35+ into the side would have been pushing it i think.

 no room for sensible posts here eddiev :D

If I lose and I get sacked, they definitely won't be appointing you EM.... They have already been down that path and won't make the same mistake twice!!! The side would just appoint the assistant, although he has the tendency to get injured moving te magnets around

I just wanted to say well done to the Brahma Lodge Footy club for the professional and thorough manner in which they dealt with last weekends incident. Obviously an individual had a regretable brain fart but things do happen in life and he has taken responsibility for his actions and accepted his punishment and shown remorse for his actions. I want to thank both the C grade and A grade coach for contacting me and dealing with the matter so promptly.

Well done and best of luck to your club in all 3 grades.

Extracting the urine 1 club...or so I hope :D I mean, EM gave it away when he mentioned they have contacted him to take over. After last time, that wouldn't even be plan Z!! Unless he meant last years coach

I think the lads will have enough pride in their performance and desire to win so we should be okay. Good luck to you guys tomorrow as well.

Just wanted to applaud the Pulteney umpire from yesterdays game. Easily the best umpire i have seen this year and just called it like he saw it. Probably helped a bit that we actually shut our mouth a bit and let them do their job and concentrated on the footy. You only generally hear criticism when it comes to umpires but its safe to say that yesterday they did an excellent job =D>

No he was good and i dont bag umpires after games on public forums or in the media. That was a sincere post. I dont recall anyone bagging the Pultney ump and im not sure he would have even been their regular ump as he was a young fit looking fella. I just really enjoyed the game because even if a decision went against me i knew it was just based on the way he saw it and not many of the other factors that can be taken into consideration at times by umps in these lower grades.

If it was a young fella then it wasn't their usual ump like ya said, but I cant remember what their normal one was like? Because I cant remember maybe he wasnt too bad??
