2011 time to put up or shut up

I can't recall Mawson Lakes playing in GF the year before. You're last point applies to everyone really....bit unfair to be coming on here and telling Mawson Lakes to put up or shut up. It is only November!

I think 151 has some grapes that are sour and is very unknowlegeable. The Saints finished 6th in 2008, 4th in 2009 and 6th again 2010 so not sure where he got the GF appearance from? Can't change outside opinion, but if 6th, 4th and 6th sets a reason and season for a premiership assault, I guess Mawson Lakes are in the perfect position.

It's common knowledge now ML have picked up Brenton Reidy from Goody Saints, but I'm sure The Riddler is looking at boasting his player stocks as it's depth was found wanting the last couple of years when injuries set in. However as pointed out it's only Movember, and there is plenty of goings on to happen before Round 1 at every club. But the first thing MLFC have in store is a 20-20 Big Bash at Mawson Lakes Hotel Oval this Sunday between The Riddlers 'Richard Chee Quees' and Rob O'Gorman's 'Gloved Men'.

Mitchell Park haven't recruited anyone. We have lost about 15+ players and are looking like battlers.

I think Morell is trying to talk Mitchell Park down but I reckon it is bit early for that.

It's very interesting reading all the talk about the points system and what club has recruited what player and how much they are paying for the players. All I would like to put forward is that it is from clubs that have their A grade playing in Div 7 what about Modbury, Tea Tree Gully, Athelstone and Shoc. Yes they do have teams above them which filter down but they can not pay players they rely on loyalty to the club and senior players going to the lower grades to help out when they know their time is up. Div 7, 7res is and has been a comp and i hope that clubs don't go to the point of buying players just to get a flag and then go no further then Div 6. Good luck to all teams for season 2011 and lets chat about some thing about from Glenunga.

Ive got a question on the points system, what happens if a bunch of players from say divvy 2 or 3 etc move to say TTG to try and play div 1 but cant manage to crack into the side and find themselves somehow playing in the C grade (div 7) then effectively you have players jumping down that from a high level to a low level but surely wouldnt be affected by the points? Or would they?

Lets be honest, when is this going to happen?? People don't go from div 2 or 3 to div 1 on their own without getting coin to do so, Div 1 clubs will be stupid to pay c graders. Even if it does happen when are there going to be so many that it influences the result? Finally no one yet knows the exact final set up of the system yet.
The only thing I disagree with is the amounts of points through the grades. If it worked out that each division you go up you are allocated 1 more point from 15 in div 6,7 through to 20 in div 1 I would be all for it.

I assume C grade sides aren't effected by the points system?

Hypothetical situation: Mawson Lakes v TTG, Round 18 - winner makes the finals
TTG A's can't make the finals, B Grade sitting top

Mawson Lakes will have a limit of 15 points in this game. What's to stop TTG playing 4-5 x A graders (apart from their integrity) who just for argument's sake are worth over 15pts in the Agrade. Is there nothing stopping them?

Heard bit of talk that the SAAFL maybe combining Div 6 & 7 teams then spiting them into a North & South comps?

As for the players leaving clubs & joining new clubs.. everyone has their reasons weather its from playing with mates to seeking greater opportunities or $$$ offered & if a player doent want to stay then no one can hold them back unless it money issues like non financial as im sure if any of your clubs had a group of 5 x players rock up at their club they wouldnt turn them away...

At the end of the day every club has had & will continue to have players leave each season & new players join them each season as last year i think the SAAFL had around 1000 + clearances for 2010.

As for all the talk about Mawson Lakes & Glenunga good on them for being pro active on their recruitment drive & what are the rest of the clubs doing except whinging on here & conceeding defeat as long time before the season starts & its only November...
IT'S US AGAINST THEM!!!

SAAFL formally adopted the new points system last night and internal SAAFL transfers are now worth 3 points for Div 1-3 and 2 points for the other divs instead of the proposed 1 point for all internal transfers.

I haven't read the new pdf they have released (will take a look after work), but is this starting next year or will people like Chad Bourke have 1 carry over point for this season?

There will be carry over points from last season but existing blokes on your list will go down 1 point for next season as they are already part of your club (ie. Rob O'gorman came to us as 3 points, next year he's worth 2)....So depends on what Bourkey & Co came in at last year as to what they will be this year.
