Definitely treading a fine line in my opinion. I used the term shenanigans deliberately. One would need to define sportsmanship I guess, for some that would just be considered a home ground advantage. I reckon the next time we play Mawson Lakes we will play for 10 hours, as they always get the jump on us and we can never quite drag them back in.GHS#33 wrote:morell wrote:As an aside - what powers do clubs have to alter the timing of the quarters on gameday? We were quiet surprised to hear that SHOC were insisting on flat 27 minute quarters, which the umpires agreed to, despite our protests...is this allowed?
Interestingly the first quarter (when SHOC were kicking with the breeze) went for nearly 29 minutes, the 2nd (when MP had the breeze) went for spot on 27 minutes.
Let’s just say that it took a couple of tattooed heavies with a stopwatch standing quite near the timekeeper to ensure no more shenanigans occurred.
I sure hope you're not suggesting a lack of sportsmanship from the SHOC lads there Morell...

What was un-sportsmanlike was the widely reported torrent of abuse coming from some SHOC officials, players and spectators after the game. "Housing trust scum" being bellowed by one large prominent SHOC player. That sort of stuff is unnecessary after the siren, especially given the relatively good spirits the game was played in.
