Seaton didn't want to show up for the last qtr???? Had outplayed Portland all day until then. Looked like they didn't want to run at all and wanted to slow the game. Credit to Portland though they hung in all game and played well when they needed to.

Good to see flinders kick more goals than points for a change

Marshy would be the last bloke to do a heartstring. Hard at it everytime I've played him and I've known him for over 10years. Premiership captain at Portland before he left as you would be well aware of. Funny how people turn on blokes who leave clubs for rival clubs even though they do alot for the club before they leave.

Marshy is always welcome at Portland Footy Club, he is a club legend and i know he still is very fond of the place. Plenty of water has now gone under the bridge, and most of the blokes playing now didnt even see him play in a Thunder guernsey. That is a shame really.

He is a great mate of mine, and has been for a longtime. He is getting way too old for this whole caper though... ;)

It is funny isn't it, i know exactly what you mean, you also have to understand why they turn on certain individuals.
You obviously don't know him that well.

Mitcham too good for us on the weekend but the scoreboard probably doesn't reflect the better effort from us with around 9 changes to the A's this week. Mitcham romped home with 8 goals in the last quarter but we tried hard all day. Missing a few set shots early probably didn't help us gather any momentum but I think we were alot better than the scoreboard showed. A good, hard at it team are Mitcham, in both the A's and B's and both games played in pretty good spirit. They just had a bit more class and consistency around the ground in the end. Hoping that we build on what we showed yesterday when we take on Pooraka in a triple header on Saturday.

Saw the Portland vs Seaton on Saturday, was a pretty good game of footy. Seaton had a real crack, and some straight kicking helped them control the scoreboard for the good part of three quarters. Young lad at full forward looked ok for Seaton, Prior was on him for a while and he held his own. Probably had the better of Granleese when he was on him too. Portland really didnt play that well up until 3/4 time, mostly due to Seaton having a real dip. Still thought our running and stoppage work was better than Seaton, but poor conversion and some great defending by Patruno and James meant that the score just wasnt getting on the board. Always had the feeling that we could come home over the top of them - Seaton's lead of 10 points at 3/4 time just wasnt enough. The game was over 10 minutes into the last term, we kicked goals in quick succession and lifted the intensity all over the ground. Good win by the lads, against a team who play some great footy, and will get better as the year goes on. They missed Marshall when he went off, and Coardy didnt play either. Umps were very good too i thought, and i dont remember too much agro between players either - played in great spirits all round.

I was shocked to see Prior on Bayly to be honest, i think Bayly would of been aswell.
Seatons best forward is Loechel & he kicked 2 on Granleese & 2 on Prior. ( Prior went to him late in the 3rd qtr )
Loechel's not getting any smaller & was grabbing alot of ball forward for Seaton & always looked dangerous.
I thought Rochester No7 for Seaton was very good all day as was the big Koota down back.
Seaton not having Coard & losing Marshall in the 2nd qtr really hurt Seaton big time.
Portland i thought over did the handball all day which resulted in numerous turnovers, they looked alot slower early but finished right over the top of Seaton in the end.
I thought the "keg on legs umpire" was a little whistle happy 1st half.

Who was Seaton's forward with the blonde, curly hair ? That was who i was referring too. He has a good pair of hands, and is quicker off the mark than he looks. What number was Bayly ? I didnt really notice any other Seaton forwards, other than Muscara early who ran out off puff later and got shut down by young Oatesy.

Someone said his name was Burton (rwelated tothe Crows selfich over the top im better tahn all Brett "Burn it and my team mates" Burton). Will stand corrected if i was told wrong. Agreed had great hands. Muscara got done over by Oates. No more seagull gets for Muscara after that, dont think there was more left for him when Tom went to him.

Wasn't his name Loechel as No mercy mentioned earlier. Pretty sure Ty Burton didnt play in the A grade.
I'm number 1, so why try harder!!

Because thats where my car was parked dickhead, what door did you want me to go out. Im flattered that you took so much notice of what door i left by, what colour underwear did i have on??? see your still a bonehead satchell. Short memory you have, its people like you who have no idea about why people left but make stupid statements how players abandoned that club and take cheap shots which shows your total lack of respect for players that were at the Portland football club and help formed the very culture to which your very players experience today. I'm pretty sure some of us gave enough blood sweat and tears for that club and achieved a great deal in a short time something you have no idea about. Fact is I love going back to that club, some of my best football memories I experienced at that club and felch is right water has gone under the bridge and most people have moved on except obviously you satchell!!!! If you want a history lesson on the club satchell come see me some time and a few of us will tell you bout the very first game the club played, or the Russell Evans era, the Brendan Klaebe, Gavin Crack situation, the first premiership, the luge, the club song, cocktail nights, players shows, footy trips, the old iggies game down by 54 points at quarter time and come back and win, and the list goes on and on.
On the game, It was a good game played hard and tough which is what was expected when these two clubs meet. Portalnd kicking to their club end in the last quarter with their tails up is always hard to stop. They controlled the midfield they controlled the game, Bird was great all game but exceptional in the last quarter, reminded me of another guy who wore the number 5 at that club a long long time ago.

Can't we all just love each other, play footy, move on and leave all of this behind ??

dont know how much of an idea the weekends game between Portland and Seaton can give us in to how they will fair towards the end of the year, both sides were missing key players and the injury to marshal really didnt help seaton, Rocchester was awsome for Seaton through the midfield was the main reason they were up and about, Patruno was also outstanding marking everything that came near him, i thought our defenders did a good job on loechel, most of his grabs and goals were through great delivery and there wasnt much defenders could do, was good to a good size crowd there on the weekend and good to see the lads that used to play at portland and now at seaton come in for a beer after the game
