not sure bout that result but houghton beat flinders by 97 points :)

get it right rtg....99 pts......flinders DEF the fittest team in d7 in fact the whole divs...........NOT

I would say they are definitely a fit side, however, they lacked a bit of class and polish and were sorely missing a couple of gun forwards.

Being captain of a club shouldnt be just givern to someone just because they have talent. The way this bloke presents himself on and off the field is a credit to himself and his club. They may just hand out being captain to people at other club,s to get or keep the player but at least Houghton see the value in Beefa.

I will not take anything away from Angle Vale they were just too good for us on the day. Only Rd 1 though and we have plenty of time left to improve and lots of room for improvement. Angle Vale should go well this year but with out seeing any other div7 teams play its hard to really say.

Although Angle Vale lost their big name recruits from Smithfield, they've picked up some players from Central United. Should go alright again this year.

Athelstone too good....I knew we were in for a tough day when I realised half their team were A & B graders who haven't trained yet this year. We played 1 bad quarter which cost us the game, we can't afford to do that agianst good sides who will punish you...still no excuse The Raggies out played us.

Must congratulate our B grade though who gave the defending premiers a fair old touch up!

That's really gotta suck. We've got them for Round 2, hopefully they all train over the next fortnight :D

well Saturday for us wasn't the best as the result suggests. we had plenty of the ball but were wasteful going forward and there wasn't enough support and pressure in our forward lines. surprisingly we didn't die as quickly as i thought we would on the big SHOCS oval and really it was our second quarter where we lost the game. somethin like 8 goals to 1 i think. some good signs though and with about 7 or so players to come back in the side we will pick up in the next few weeks. good to have a week off as a couple of blokes got injured over the weekend too which didn't help our cause. SHOCS were good but not that good. plenty of improvement to come for Ovies.

ok, ended up with one and had a run in the guts briefly while i was knackered. tweaked a hammy in the second which gave him some trouble in the second half but a solid contribution first up. he wasn't happy with his efforts and i know he's got more to offer. just needs to get to know how the blokes around him play and how to read what we're doin.

Hi guys, long time reader, first time poster.

Not sure the above is correct as I had a chat to a mate who advised the side that played on Saturday for the Raggies has no A or B grade players, except for one who may not go up due to CBF factor and is lazy. They still have four or five more players to come into this side, who were ex-A/B grade players but are planning to play C grade all year. So, should only get stronger, barring injuries to the A and B grade.

I believe Raggies B grade is going with a youth policy this year and a few of the 'veterans' have filtered down to the C grade, which can only be good for the Club as a whole.

Time will tell I guess.

Thanks bringbackthebiff, welcome aboard too!

What's the name of the fella with the mohawk? Is the lazy bloke Brad Warner?

Is Brad Warner a usual C grader? came straight from one of The Raggies players mouth that half the blokes hadn't trained and coach won't tolerate it and sent them to the C grade...I didn't get the impression they wanted to be there all year but I could be wrong.

If they do keep that same side for rest of the season I suggest they will be set for a very good year.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, much appreciated.

Warner is apparently playing C grade all year. He is 35 and trains once a week, so not interested in playing higher. Miller cannot train due to work commitments and B grade coach won't select him as would be unfair on the youngsters who have done the hard yards. So, apparently in the C grade for most of the year, barring infury of course.

Most of the team on Saturday will play all year, although should the A and B grade get ravaged with injuries (which the Raggies always seem to), then obviously things would change quite considerably.

What grade did most of these blokes play last year?

Looking at the blokes that were named, a few are from the B grade. Most were playing last year though I believe.
