Was reading the Div 6 thread. Someone was saying that Hope Valley looked very very good in their trial with Woody Sth. It was said that Catermole, Stubberfield, Clifford and some new gun from SANFL were not playing for the Cats, yet they only went down by a couple of goals. To only lose by a couple could mean a few things - either Cats are looking in great form in Div 6) or Hope Valley weren't as very very good as post suggest!

Only a trial I understand, but surely very very good would mean a white wash to a team below you.
I think Valleys are a solid team, so anyone care to give a more realistic view form the Dees?

Its always hard to tell in trials - you never know what other teams are putting up. We had a very good first half against the cats, and they had a good 2nd half. I guess people watching our first half would have seen us as looking very very good, as we were winning a lot of the ball at stoppages and scoring quite easily.

Woody South had some of their bigger names out - but we had plenty out of our side too. We will look to see how we go against Heccies this week, but again i'm sure both teams will be trying different things.
I'm proud of you fellas. You all kept your head on a swivel, and that's what you gotta do when you find yourself in a vicious cock fight!

HV had many out beeched. I suppose as an opposition person you look at different aspects not scoreboard results. I thought they looked good. Charlie left alot of petrol in the tank

1: Woody South have had heaps of hype surrounding them this season and they were very unlucky to get relegated.
2: I haven't heard any pumping of tyres coming from the Hope Valley camp, players out and all of the rest it was probably a fair reflection of where the teams are at atm.

Scary to think had we lost round 18 we would be in D6.....even scarier is the prospect that D5 will be as close this year as it was last season!

With the exception of North Haven as raging favourites, i think the rest of the competition is very close.

Its hard to judge because salisbury west were the dominant side last season and from 2nd to 9th was crazily close and lockleys were well off the pace. Personally without knowing much about the sides i would say its similar this season.

If it wasn't for a few different results in Round 18 last year, Woodville South wouldn't be "below" us as you said, so they were an excellent trial game opponent IMO and if luck goes their way I personally think they will be in Div 5 in 2013.

I think carey's comment was only on the first half (he left at halftime) when the scoreline probably did reflect some good footy being played. We tried some things after half time and Woody South got better as the game wore on. When all their good players are on, they will be hard to beat in Div 6. They would also be hard to beat this year if they were in Div 5 too I reckon

Hectorville at home this week will be a big test for us. They have had the wood over us for a number of years and will be a good test for all 3 grades

Can any West Croydon people tell mer whether it's true that you are playing TTG C and D grade next weekend? I see West Croydon A grade had a very good year last season so surely this will be very one sided? How did the B grade go last season?

I believe that to be true. I'd rather have a run against their C & D than their A & B. I would have thought their 3's & 4's would go fairly good wouldn't they?? The B grade didn't have the best year last year but are looking a lot sharper this and year an are hoping for a much improved performance.

On the topic of trials... Is anyone having one this Satday??

Jokes aside I strongly doubt North Haven will be raging favourites, Haven Lutheran and Glenunga have recruited well which is a bonus but in my experience it doesn't count for too much once the season starts.

I definitely agree that it will be very close next year, I watched Rosies and Fitzroy the other night and they are meant to be struggling a bit but they both looked good to me. They moved the ball really well and had some quality players that I haven't seen before. I think the league will be a better standard than last year but very even.
Any theories on why Div 5 seems to be so even?
I have a problem. It's to do with the little man, the squashed-in French man, the naked little squashed up hairy boy! You know! With the hand feet
