I heard around the traps today the Amateur Leagues main man M... SH..... ain't that happy with the new Amateur League Budgets great idea of having a Team Of The Year in all grades, I think its more like he's unhappy coz he wasn't quick enough to think up the idea himself. It hasn't stopped him getting on the blower today, trying in desperation to get his links with Sportsbeat to quickly get the same in place.
The Amateur Budget has been a success in many ways for the League itself with so many phone calls & e/mails asking about numerous things including finals this week & where their being played which no doubt would of saved the Amateur Head Office alot of time, its not a problem for the Budgets editor to help everyone out as he's always done when he has the information himself, he's always wanted to work in conjunction with the League from day one, unfortunately ego's have got in the way.
Tomorrow night all will be ready for downloading with the finals teams & the venue's.
Teams of the year for all grades will be announced in the Div 1 grand final souvenier addition.

Apparently someone from sportsbeat has been ringing all the coaches to get their thoughts on who should be in. Think both are doing teams in all grades now by the sounds of it......Its taken this long.....
Harsh but fair.....

Yep, no numbers to call on. Juniors are coming through but are a few years away due to us not having a great junior program about 5 years ago, but at the same time, its not a young area around us so we are strugglin to pull these kids to eventually become 100 gamers. Hopefully the demise of the under 17 / 19's will help out the Amatuer clubs in general. Our B grade has been made up of about 7 blokes of B grade standard, filled in with our C1 team, which is the SA deaf community team, and some under 18's. Not a good situation to be in.
having the u17/19s out will help broadview, i think they have a fair few u17/19 North adelaide players who played some matches this year but i think their B grade will still struggle next year
when was the last time broadview was in div 2?
Been in A1 or top grade for 31 years.
and they were only in div 2 for 1 year aswell, and this was their 80th year aswell

Div 1 Res Leading Goalkickers i've noticed Paul Johnson ( Seaton ) equal with Ashley Place ( Henley ) on 44 a piece, I,m beginning to think now coach Scott Hodges was playing the wrong forward in 2007 as Johnson kicked over 50 goals that year aswell.
Maybe Hodges can't coach after all!

Does Paul actually train nowadays ? He is one of the most wasted talents i have ever seen. He was tooling around in the C grade at Portland for years, only because of the fact he refused to train AT ALL.

Great lad, but he was capable of much, much more.

Haha, he's still using that excuse

Good ol' Jonno, he would be the only bloke in the SAAFL who has played more games than he has attended training sessions...

I was once again at Henley oval Sat watching them play Gepps Cross & it was interesting to see Joel Cullen absent from the team, after some chatting to a few at the ground i hear he'll no longer suit up for the year after rupturing his spleen the previous week, what a loss, it didn't stop the Sharks from inflicting a defeat on Gepps Cross although Gepps aswell had a gun in Alloca missing.
Henley proved how much depth they have down there covering Cullen but watching how good this Pederson played in the ruck they wouldn't want to lose him anytime soon as they don't have anyone that'll cover him, this guy was the reason Henley won yesterday as far as i'm concerned & no doubt he is the difference to Henley winning or losing the Grand Final.

NM, Allocca played but CHF Scott Challen didn't. An interesting game. Henley's foot skills were better and delivery to their forwards was very good because of it.

Yeh sorry CC i fu$@#d up, i knew one big man was missing & it was Challen not Allocca
But hey, a great player they could of done with.
Finals are a different story & being wet this Sat ( apparently ) may see the Rams under real pressure to beat the inconsistent Gaza.
Obviously Gaza got their 9 players back on the week-end!

also watched this game,NM, i don't think pederson was the difference, but a very important player , up against two big men , did more than enough to get in BPs. you are right if they loose him , they are almost stuffed. big difference to me was Henley have a good team, prepared to run and help each other. GX has a good side of talented players but seem to be playing for themselves. CC , you were spot on about Henley's disposal , by hand or foot, they were good. maybe something your 'big names' could try to copy instead of trying to play for "me" NM ,Allocca may as wll not played, because unless he remembers he cannot do anything with the ball unless he actually grabs it, he may as well sit on the sidelines.[ could see what he was trying to do but you still have to put your body over the ball sometimes in order to win the hardball ] CC did GX have a player down in the last 1/4, because no one seemed interested in manning on #4 [Hermy?], almost every move from their backline came thru him,to far for your coaches' box to see what was happening? for me Henley looking very good as a team , GX if all play together as a team would be as good as any

Nm & moz, you are both spot on with your comments, there is a bit of selfishness in a couple of players, when it works it's good but when it fails, it looks real bad. Allocca's body language when things don't go his way is disgraceful. Craig Hermann has a habit of giving us the irits each time we play them, I don't think there were any excuses, they played out the last quarter to the end, we will need to do better this week at home if gaza has their injuries fixed.

Henley are injury free other than Cullen, who can they replace him with?
I know someone down there that thinks he's in the mix & deserves an opportunity  who could that be??
They proved on the week-end they can still play a game that doesn't involve the bigman ( Cullen ) at CHF so the answer to that last question of mine is no-chance.
Well done to Paul Johnson on winning the goalkicking in D1Res, not bad for a bloke thats lucky to train once a month.
I wonder next year if he trains 2-3 times a month he may kick 100!

Henley wouldn't be so careless as to disprupt team harmony with someone that thinks team starts with the letter I..
