Joompin just because lance the waterboy says Burridge is good doesn't means its the truth. Besides I heard half of Nth Havens under 18's are on a bit of cash, namely Finney.
Reminder to all - This is a Forum it is here to stir people up and talk rubbish otherwise what's the point. Just ask Felch he has had to quit his job and defend Portland full time. It's like legal aid for people that can't afford a proper defence.

PAOC are very very good, but beatable.
i've put up with enough rubbish from people not knowing what they are on about bad mouthing our club, although i agree that the sprinkler incident against north haven in round one was a farce, but the adelaide city council are responsible for the oval and facilities as they are for all parkland ovals. i was unaware that each club has to patrol their oval and ensure that people walking their dogs on it pick up their droppings. in my 10 years of playing in the amateur league, i think it is one of the best ovals to play on. plenty of room and rarely turns into a slop heap. the changerooms arent state of the art, but they are more spacious than some of the 'district' clubs, even those playing in divisions one and two. the snipping and verbal attacks that you speak of are two way streets my friend, and happen at every game with passionate supporters. i would challenge you to list a physical snipe from any of our games. we like to think that we generally play the ball hard, but fair. i do agree that we are very beatable. for any side to stay focussed for a whole year and win every game takes a huge effort, and for a club that has won 7 games in the past 3 years, you would think nigh on impossible.
as for the dribble that we have got all of these paid players this year, we do not pay anyone a cent, and i know this for a fact. the 7 or 8 old scholars who have come to the club this year have done so because they are sick of seeing us getting smashed each week and want to do something about it, as well as being sick of travelling each weekend. the biggest improvement however has been from our younger players who now have 2 or 3 years of a grade in them and are really stepping up, as well as some luck so far with injuries.

I dont really know what the reasons are you blokes dont have better facilities, and i dont really care. I will say this though, PAOC have been a D2/D3 club for a long time now - surely the club has tried to do something about the facilities. If they havent, they need their heads read.
Also, if you think we are going to believe that you are not 'paying' players, then you are 'dazed and confused'. Ryan Byrne does not play for nothing !!! I appreciate that you have improvement from younger blokes, but they have improved because alot of them have been pushed down a grade because of an influx of recruits. Nothing wrong with that at all, great recruiting by PAOC. But dont insult our intelligence by saying they are all playing for nothing, when i know that is not the case.
And Ouzo, i am back working part-time now thankyou. In fact, i got a call yesterday from Carl Williams legal team, they want me to join his appeal case

i am willing to bet my left nut that ryan byrne doesnt get paid. he plays for the same incentives as every other a grader. not everyone plays footy for money. there is a thing called mates and the love of the game. we have looked repeatedly into doing something about the changerooms, but getting a building permit through the adelaide city council is bloody hard - just look at the vic park shamozzle. roughly 10 years rob gerard was willing to pay for a grandstand to be built at park 9, but the fact that the acc wont give us a long term lease and the parklands building thing saw it die in the arse. if you have a better idea on where we can play that is in a central location, then i am all ears. regularly playing at the school isnt an option due to the whole drinking/swearing/fighting thing that goes along with mens footy. phos camden have been a div 1/2 club for a long time and their visitors changerooms are terrible. an under 12's side wouldnt even fit in there! from memory, the visitors changerooms at portland arent exactly spacious either...
