West Croyden were very accountable, worked hard all day and managed to get away with the win. Full credit to WC, they turned up to play and did just that. Hope Valley has a lot more to offer and we will learn from this game.

Good to see that it is looking like the season is going to be a close one. Definitely looking forward to a good hit out this week with Houghton. We've had our "slap in the face" and will be switched on and ready to go come Friday!
If i'm not playing football then i'm probably watching it, otherwise i'm at least thinking about it!

I would of thought a game at houghton which is never easy to win, to have the same amount of scoring shots and lose by 4 goals isnt realy a let down and infact is probably a reasonable effort, would give a reasonable amount of credibility. I cant deny Hope Valleys result in round1, but is only round1.

lockleys were a very short side. dont think they had one tall fwd in their team. had very gd delivery to their fwds. know they had a few players out including their captain i think. put up a gd battle.

jb didnt play this wk along with 3 others. heccies had 15 players out in total for all grades :o

Trinity a well drilled side, run through the lines consistently, link up very well and always had numbers at every contest, particularly at marking contests in theirs and our forward line. Forwards aren't superstars, but their midfield give them good use of the ball. Full credit to them, outplayed us.

No credit goes to the umpires who were a disgrace to themselves and the league. It's a shame there is no accountability for such a display.

Dont think you are alone there, most clubs have the same problem. I reckon we'd have that just in the A's and B's at the moment.

I hear ya loud and clear, Quichey. Won't go into it, all I will say is that it was extremely disappointing. As to what effect it had on the result in a close game, we'll never know

The older umpire, with his young protege alongside, tells us before the game, "I'm not going to send any of you guys off because you'll just come back on and act the same way, but I will be giving away 25 metre penalties".

I turn to Beefa and comment that it was a wierd thing to say. The umpire must have had a huge chip on his shoulder. It was almost bewildering watching it unfold.

Good win from our boys, for a young group they have got some ticker and character. I did think that Gateway boys got the wrong end of the stick with the umpiring, but i also thought we shouild have won by a little more, given the scoring shots, which were very similar to the week before.

Think highschool changerooms, couple of rows of benches and hooks in the middle, showers one side, toilets the other. Long walk to the oval from rooms, but plenty of space for warm up drills while the Reserves are playing.

Oval is green, but real hard underneath. My right leg has a huge weeping graze from hitting the deck a couple of times on the boundary, got stuck to the sheets and had to rip them off the wound Sunday morning  :vom:

I certainly agree with you Hawk. The Valleys definately got the wrong end of the stick with the umpiring - at some times it was completely bewildering :?
I do think your pressure around our ball carriers proved to be the difference - we struggled to find space in the middle because of your pressure - something for us to definately learn from.
I'm proud of you fellas. You all kept your head on a swivel, and that's what you gotta do when you find yourself in a vicious cock fight!

Holy shit. I hope Sdemon sees this, gateway blokes and hooker roaders agreeing. I did hear that sdemon had a bit to say to big Axe in the Bs. Good luck with that SD
The pressure you spoke about was something that was mentioned during the week after the Houghton game.
