I here that even Nth Pines football director K.Norris had a run for Ovies to help out with numbers. That can not be good 8)

interesting summary GTB.

we got belted off the park no doubt about it. to be honest we only had about half our A grade side playing and yeah 24 players in total. WC were very good and Matty Mac has got them well oiled! their A's came in and smashed us out of the middle, we couldn't get our hands on the ball then as we were't the fittest we struggled chasing. as you said it was a trial and the blokes who played got some much needed game time. it'll take us a few weeks to get to where we wanna be with a few new names on the list but we'll be around in Sept.

as for the tall skinny bloke givin us heaps, that'd be Lance, my wife was sitting with him for a lot of the time, he was keen to be out there but is gettin over a broken foot from Xmas, don't think he was abusing us and the fat defender... i'm not sure who that is, where was he standing?

Thought I would take a stab at predicting Rd 1 results:

Athelstone v St Pauls Should be a good game. From what I hear Athelstone are strong when in Div7 but I think St Pauls will get up in a close one
Sacred Heart OC v Ovingham Have not heard much about Sacred Heart so will pick Ovies
Flinders Uni v Houghton Districts Houghton by about 3-4 goals
Henley v Adelaide Uni Henley will be strong this year as they were last year. Still think they should have gone up to Div6
Angle Vale v Nth Pines Simply because at this time of the year nobody thinks they will loose rd1.

Be interesting too see other peoples thoughts.

And when you are struggling to just fill 1 side a week before the 1st game...I know ovies supposedly had some players out but to find nearly 20 odd players a week before a game is a big task and surely a concern?

Sacred Heart v Ovingham - don't care it's only a trial but a 190 point flogging a week before your 1st game is a concern..SHOC by 29 points

Flinders Uni v Houghton - Flinders Uni will be improved from last year but Houghtons pre season has been going along nicely (apart from coaching issue)...Raiders by 35 points

Henley v Adelaide Uni - Sharks should be in Div 6 (disgrace!) and therefore will be too strong for The Blacks, all the quality they have got in their Div 1 side will filter down the grades...Sharks by 67 points

Angle Vale v North Pines - Angle Vale from all reports have been struggling and their Pre Season form hasn't been the best...North Pines by 19 points

Henley Vs Adelaide Uni
I think that Henley will be one of the stronger teams in this div

Flinders Uni Vs Houghton
Houghton will be too strong for Flinders Uni. From what I have heard Houghton have been travelling nicely throughout the preseason.

St. Pauls Vs Athelstone
As I have mentioned before I believe that St. Pauls will be the team to beat. They have recruited well and should be too strong for Athelstone.

Ovingham Vs Sacred Heart
Sacred Heart. Although players like Cookie and Matty Newman will be hard to stop for Ovies.

North Pines Vs. Angle Vale
North Pines in a close game

nth pines had trouble scoring in the second half but nowhere near 30 g. ;loss..nth pines actually looked ok, skills were fairly good just had some massively funny hairdoos and a lot of difference between the oldest (about 50) to the youngest (about 12)looked that was. nth pines will be ok imo

nuggety played...very unfit, had a little bit of it at the start but had no support....died quickly in the 2nd and 3rd went to the back pocket then bench in the last..not his best but nuggety is a good player and will bounce back...prob the best for ovies would have been the young skinny boy named matt....very quick and took em on but once again no support..prob the only one that didnt give in, but still was getting caught a bit....all in all not a good day for ovies. good training run for west croydon.

the defender is Richo, was our full back but i think he's sittin out this year... couldn't be stuffred is pretty much his attitude at the moment. i hope he changes his mind, he's a good player... and yeah that's lancey, def dissapointed he wasn't out there!

our A grade squad has 9 names that didn't play in the trial so will be much stronger than the team we had last week. really lookin forward to the contest this week. this is when it all really starts!!! i still back us to make finals in both grades.
