After a tight first half at Thebarton Oval yesterday TOS was able to run over the top of CLG to get a good 5 goal win. There was an even contribution from all players and with many of our better players unavailable for selection or injured early in the game it was great to see some of the younger guys step up and make the most of their chances. CLG of certainly have had a huge turnover of players since last season as there wasn't too many faces or names I recognised from last year.

The B's also had a very good win after a very tight first half but as has been the case all season, we played our best footy in the second half of the game and with our run blew them away.

I see Kenilworth just ot over the line in both grades and surprised to see CU lose to Henley on their home deck

A very even comp this year.

CLG from memory only had a handfull of paid players in thier flag year 07. It was basically same team that made a prelim in 08. They were up there with Heccies WOS etc lost to Hope Valley in a prelim by two points without thier key tall who was injured and had kicked 80 goals. There were juniors at the time 13s 15 17s. If i recall one of them played in a gf. Since 08 seems to be a gradual slide with players leaving or not playing at all. Harvey,Apostolopolous,Crichton,Bentley to name a few . I would say at end 08 they had a very very strong list capable of playing in another gf,this list wasnt bought, people worked extremely hard to set the club up for long term success ,and as it is now could see them back in Div 7...

Well that parts incorrect. For one CLG didnt lose to HV in the prelim, we knocked them off in the semi by about 2 goals. WOS beat them in the prelim by about 5 goals in the end. Are you eluding to harvey as their key tall in the prelim? If so then he played that day also (just my 2 cents worth  )

It has been quite a shock to see the turnover in list at CLG. Harvey was a huge loss (although wasnt quite the clubman my sources tell me) and never rated the crichton boys tbh. Visser was a huge loss this season and im not well informed enough to know about the rest of the squad, but must say i tipped them to be finalists this year and their results are surprising.

My friend harvey did not play "trust me " he didnt ..nor did he play 2cnd semi both games were at clg...one crichton won a mail medal must be able to play a bit i would think...the others seem to have drifted away, and let me tell you clg team of 07 08 was as good as any team including WOS HV or whoever.

from the 2007 premiership not one player played yesterday....6 are left active on the playing list of which 3 cant train and are not considered for the A grade..the other 16 include 5 who have left to other clubs and 11 who arent playing for various reasons..no age retirements..

if you say they had 13s 15s and 17s in 2008 i have to believe you but where did 60+ kids go in 2 years?

Hey Benchmark if CLG were as good as whoever that year, then why like the rest of the five of 2008,arent they in Div 4 or 5 like the other 4 sides are. Sorry but you cant play pretty football in september and expect to be successful.Straight set losses on your own ground 2 years in a row says something i reckon

Very hard to attract kids in an old area with so many neighbouring clubs i.e Goody Saints Phos Camden

Thats the question i guess is unanswered because the teams of 07 08 even 09 were very strong and others have gone on WOS HV Heccies while clg have slid gradually

Well not sure what drugs i was on because i was at both games (even played on harvey for a mere 2-3 minutes in that 2nd semi) and prelim was a spectator having a look at who we would be playing the following week and harvey was definately in both games (we made sure we gave it too him in the 2nd semi as he sat there serving us rubbish p*ssed as a maggot in the q final out at WOS. Not talking stats about the crichtons, in fairness they may have been blanketed the games we played them but as i said they weren't impressive in my eyes.

Just having my 2 cents mate, not having a crack at you.
