Common sense and also safer, would the Lodge's public liability insurance cover a players injury on the exposed pitch?

The reason the game is at Brahma on Saturday night is because they have 2 teams playing in cricket GF this weekend. This restricts the numbers they will have to play on a Saturday arvo. Plus there coach is also playing cricket (I think) this weekend. Would be pointless having a trial with out your coach watching. The game would have been held at Nth Pines if the lights were good enough.

thanks for the backing mate, the coaches from both clubs have got to put the saftey of players first a coned off pitch doesnt cut it, i hope they got insurence they can say there has been no issue before but it only takes one accident to do it.

Negligence and liability would also rest with the coaches under duty of care.

I havent seen it present any issues there yet and we have been doing it for 5+ years..

I would rather land on the concrete pitch than a turf wicket during this time of the year (and yes, i know nth pines is covered!)

If you think it is that unsafe then dont play.

on a different note. according to my sources, K Klomp has officially retired thus leaving him as the second best goal kicker of all time, approx 16 goals short of the mark!

a great career Klompy, you'll always be The Number 2...
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

not sure about that, otherwise houses would be built on turf wickets! although both would probably end in the same result if you landed on your head hard enough!

The pitch will be covered and coned off. The umpires will blow the whistle and a ball up will follow if the ball is in contest and goes towards the pitch. Its not rocket science and we are all grown men. Im sure we have enough common sense among us to allow a game to proceed safley as has happened in the past. I watched a trial up at Wallaroo a couple of weeks back and it also seemed good enough for them also.

I hope that this trial goes ahead. I think from my point of view it will be good to get another hit out before the start of the season.

Personally I dont see any reason why it wouldnt Browny, just from some of the chat I have read in last couple of days just sounded like there may be some uncertainty.

How would you consider the oval to be any worse or unsafe then the other oval you have played on? The change rooms are the responsibility of the local council. The club is not actually aloud to do anything to them its all upto Salisbury council. I believe there is a proposal in place that should see the quality of the visitors change rooms improved in the near future.

The pitch will only be uncovered for this match due to a game of cricket being played there on Saturday before our football trial. By next week this will be covered in sand.

I went pass Brahma Lodge Oval today and had a look. I thought it looked in good condition for tomorrows game. As for the pitch I dont believe that it will be that much of an issue so long as it is coned off at a good distance away from the pitch (which im sure it will be). Look forward to seeing how North Pines go against Brahma tomorrow night.

It should be a good game. I know BL will be missing a few but this will give some other guys a chance to step up and be counted for round 1 against Glenunga.

west croydon 33.25 to ovingham 3. 5... w/croydon had a couple of Agraders not playing. ended up being a 4 q game as ovies only had 23 players.1/2 time score 11.15 w/c 3.3 ovingham.ovies had 4 on the bench and west croydon had at least 12, so basically ovies A gr kicked 3.3 to 11.15 which was mainly b graders fr w/c. heard a few of their players (that wasnt playing) bagging them esp 1 bald skinny guy with tatts that played last year and 1 fat defender who was asked by a person why wasnt he playing...he said i couldnt be ******..ovies skills were very 2nd rate. they were unfit and basically not in the same league......but remember it was only a trial so they have 1 week to come up with 20 oddd players....maybe the two that were doing the bagging might suit up and showem how its done eh...in a word(or two....) ovies were ordinary and west croydon are looking the goods. well done matty mc
