Tipped the Bulls to go down. Dont know what it is with them but over the last few years they promise so much and deliver nothing.

Well if people had nothing to do yesterday and didn't go to the Greenacres versus Golden Grove ANZAC Day clash at Yatala Park then they deprived themselves of seeing one helluva great game of footy.
The day started well for the GG B graders as they proved too fit and too good for the Greenies boys who never stopped trying and run away with a 53 point win.

We were then treated to the ANZAC Day ceremonies as decorated Digger Jimmy set the scene and both teams lined up and paid their respects to the sound of 'The Last Post'.
Once this game got underway you could sense that it was going to be a long day and no-one was going to go down without a fight. The skills of both teams were fantastic and at quarter time scores were pretty much level, but in the second quarter the GG midfield stepped up and gave them a handy buffer until a slack few minutes before half time saw the Dragons slap on 3 goals in junk time and keep things tight. There was hardly a passenger for either team and this game was showing signs of being a dead ringer for last years game !! Third quarter saw GG slip away again only to give up another goal in junk time as Greenies showed that they know how to play their small oval brilliantly. With an injury to GG full forward Marc Marshall unsettling the balance and the boys on tired legs, the Greenies midfield stepped up late in the game and had a couple of inspirational pieces of play to eventually snatch the game by 9 points after trailing for most of the day.

Although it was disappointing to lose there again our boys showed great character and fight but all credit must go to Greenies, not only for their great effort on the field but for their outstanding sportsmanship and organisation off the field. An awesome set up on the day, great hospitality and sportsmanship and an open invitation back into the club afterwards where they happily put on beers and players and officials from both clubs mingled together. This is how the game should be played on and off the field.

Well done Greenies. A great club I have to say and definitly heading in the right directions.

Congratulations to Mark Johnstone and some old bastard named turk who should be commended for their efforts and sportsmanship once again.
;)

Hopefully we can repay the favours in 9 weeks time.

Choccies....thanks for the wrap

Yes it was a great day and a fantastic game of footy..

Your B's would have won by more if their coach had a clue  ..but impressive none the less.

The A's certainly put on a show with both teams showing speed, skill and a lot of desperation and from where I was :drinkers: appeared to be played in good spirit, hard but fair.

Well done to the Grovers who came back into the club for a beer and chat, it made for a good end to the day.

Hard to know who the old bastard was tho because our club is just full of them
Opinions and bumholes..you either have one or are one IMO

Foley was celebrating after his 50th game for the club & he is a dance off veteran but his opposition for the challenge was a rookie to the club at his first function & put up a good fight but was no match for his knock out closing moves ;)

Fitzroy were very impressive for the ANZAC clash. Mitchell was closely tagged, but his influence on the game as a playing coach was priceless.
I see their new recruit Burgess was on the sidelines. How many weeks before his return?

Fitzroy don't seem to be missing Bourke too much, 20+ goals each week, plenty of scoring options.

Yes the roys were extremely impressive on ANZAC day, Coach Mitchell is a hard man to keep out of the game, his attack on the ball is 2nd to none... Its a massive compliment that a 40 year old is getting tagged every week..

As for Burgess could very well be back this week but wouldnt be suprised if they take a bit of care and give him one more week...

If Craig harvey does play for Salisbury West and stood Shane Mitchell from Fitzroy then there still wouldn't be a full head of hair between the two :D :D ;)
