Far too strong and played sensible, percentage footy as a team with the desire to achieve the result they did.
Gepps Cross, well they have far too many hurdles to jump to expect to play in finals this year. The club needs to start working towards 2011 immediately, find some players who will play as a team and not as individuals and a few more who will put their head over the ball when it gets a bit tough. At the moment, too many looking for cheap, easy kicks and I reckon the coaching panel could do with some lessons in sensible team selection and position placements when needed.
IMO, only 5 could say they made a solid contribution over 4 quarters, Stengle, Hudson, both outstanding, Rose, Hand & Blakemore were solid all game, the rest could well leave their envelopes either in the safe or donate them back, they weren't earned with that performance today.

Ace, I only got to catch the last half. Broadview looked the goods in the 3rd, skills were cutting Gepps X up through the middle, even in the conditions. Oval looked to hold up not too bad though. Last 1/4 was a bit luck luster, looked like both teams knew the result. Must comment to your above post, i did hear a bit of bickering in the Gepps forward line in the last 1/4. Bit more than just a passing comment too, wouldn't be happy to hear that stuff coming from our guys.

Broadview oval is always in good nick, no exception on Saturday. I reckon I could give you half a dozen names of where that was coming from and be correct on every occasion, this is what I'm talking about and it's time someone put an end to it.............. but it appears noone is game enough!

Perhaps they were bickering about the price of a can of Coke at Gepps....$2.30 from the canteen....didnt know it had gone up that much.... ;)

Think that Richard Foster has been 'groomed' for a while to take over, but we shall see in due course. ;)

Tell me Pacman, did someone actually 'hold a gun at your head or twist your arm' and make you pay that much or did you have the choice not to?

You are correct, the info i got was the club asked Pearce to resign or be sacked at training tonight.
He replied " you can sack me " but ended up emailing the person & telling him "here is my resignation as requested by the club".
I thought other than Saturdays game Port Districts with the loss of so many experienced players pre-season were competitive for a very young side so far this year, actually 13 youngsters in the side on the weekend.
What does the club expect from these youngsters? their actually 2-3 years off of being a better side once these youngsters gain some much needed experience of Div1 football, the same thing applies with Pearce, he's a bloke that had them playing finals footy in A1 the year before something Gary Tredrea couldn't do with them but was he sacked? No coz he's Port Adelaide.
I must say If your not from Port you were always on a hiding to nothing Ricky.
I wonder how many players will leave there that Ricky's recruited?
I hope plenty, PM me boys if any of you are keen.
NM, not even at the half way mark and you're recruiting already, not going that bad really are you? ;)
Just got a funny feeling "Steamboat" might turn up on the panel at Seaton with the great man NM.
How's that for a 'hunch", Deal or No Deal?

Foster & Cocking are the 2 in charge at districts now.
Pretty p!ss week way the way the club handled it in the end, the bloke wasn't allowed to thank the players etc for his time there last night which he wanted to do.
Some of the leadership group would be happy with the result though, a couple of them wern't in favour of the coaches decision in playing Matt Ashley & Steven Carter on the weekend coz of lack of numbers.
I also heard these leaders had their noses put out of joint coz they were shown up by these 2 oldtimers ( Ashley & Carter ) on gameday.
Ashley & Carter got a sh!tload more of the ball than they did, having not played for 3 or more years probably rubs more salt into the wound. :(( :((

i think you may have unintentionally stumbled on to something here NM, i was informed by a VERY good source that it was the leadership group who forced the clubs hand in to making this decission !

I recall a recent Div 4 club whose players got the coach sacked, as result the club under pressure made a brash appointment the following year, (as they probably had lack of interest in the position) players left and are now on the verge of Div6.
If players are the ones calling the shots here, the club would want to make sure they got it right, as rumour and reputation doesn't take long to circulate in the amateur league and the club could find it hard to attract quality coaches in the future.

PS: NM, Matt Ash played in our D grade flag last year and has been out at Torrens Valley this year, but I get the jist of what your saying.
