i've commented on umpiring before on these forums but todays in the uni v bos game has to be the worst i've seen.
one bloke who wouldn't get out of the centre square and decided to umpire from between 30 and 50 meters from the play and the other bloke who just seemed to have not much idea about basic rules and even confused himself at times. i can not see how these blokes accept their $90 or whatever they get paid.

did spoil what was an othewise good game of footy.

must have to agree with you sprint, central united must be getting sick of the same 2 umpires they get every home game ,they come from the div 1 res when sal.nth play at home , always late cant keep up the play and only umnpire the game if the ball gets near them, the worst is the old crime fighter who cant see over the brim of his white cap,, never look after the player with his head over the ball..someones going to get hurt with these 2 who only seem to umpire for the dollars..

CUFC Vs houghton

Postby rexy-cufc » Sun May 15, 2011 10:17 am

really good to see both cufc teams win yesterday. b-grade is up and about and has won there last 2 on the trot they have alot more depth and i can see them really pushing on now :) keep the good work up fellas . As for the A-grade game houghton turned up to play and burst out the blocks by kicking 7 goals to our 4 in the first . But to all the boys credit and a good talking to by Andrew stewart at quarter time the boys rallied and kicked 10 goals to zero in the second and really set ourselves up for the win . round 7 - CUFC vs henley we will not take them lightly because they havnt won a game . every week is a new challenge for us boys and we look forward to it :D

Ingle farm definately a big improvement from last year, they had their knockers when they decided to stay up in div 6 but i think the decision has been well and truly validated.

On the game it was a tough contest but IF's willingness were cleaner under pressure and also first to the ball. their ruckman absolutely destroyed me and gave their midfielders first use for most of the day and their use into their forward line was far better than our own.

all in all the deiference between CLG's best and worst is far to big and its dissapointing to see that after we played so well against glenunga we got back and play how we played against Central united. all we can really do is look to this week and hopefully put in a better, harder performance against trinity.

Was a well fought out win by Glenunga on Saturday. With Bourke, Karvy and a few others missing we always knew it was going to be tough going (Trinity had a few out too including Scott Matthews). But when we lost 2 guys in the first half to red cards, both of which free kicks and 25 meters resulted in goals, we were really in trouble. The red cards were very questionable and I would have thought that yellows would have been MORE than enough, infortunately not my call to make. We were destroyed in both of the 10 minute periods with 17 men as Trinity to their credit ran really hard to overwhelm us.

Early in the third term we were 5 goals down and really battling but somehow managed to claw our way back to be within 2 kicks at 3/4 time. The last quarter was a great effort from both sides with the lead changing a few times. Trinity refused to give up as did we and in the end both deserved to get the win.

It was great to get out of jail again but it would be nice to win a game comfortably some time soon! Fantastic to see our extra fitness this year paying off over the last month though, I don't think we could have done it last year!!

It was a good game out at Webb oval, we played alot better then in recent weeks. The 2 red cards were terrible decisions, i have seen far worse in this division go unpunished. The 2nd one was a routine down the ground freekick for a bump after disposal that the umpire somehow interpreted as striking. Disappointing to not get the result after being comfortably up in 2nd quarter. Again finished with 18 fit players, with Benny Rogers the heart and soul of our midfield going down midway through the last with a knee injury. he was up and about at the keg party later in the night but he might miss a few weeks still. Good to see our skipper Ty play out the game after returning from a hamstring strain suffered in round 1.

Very close division this year, with all the top teams taking wins off eachother. Kenilworth, Trinity, Blackfriars, Central United and Glenunga all capable of beating one another.

Had to watch the Trinity v Glenunga game from the sidelines today and it turned out to be an absolute cracker with Glenunga stealing a 4pt win. We got the upper hand with Glenunga having 2 players red-carded early in the game. I must say that from what I saw, both of these decisions looked pretty soft. Definitely a free involved but no way should have been red-cards. Glenunga did well to eat away at our lead over the last 3 quarters by playing through the corridor and winning the footy in close. The last quarter saw the lead change several times with Glenunga snatching the lead within the last minute or so.

Even though we didn't get the result it was probably the best we've played so far this year. Still a long way behind our form from last year and have room for a lot of improvement. We still have 4 of our better players missing which is testing our depth at the moment.

Haven't seen Glenunga for a couple of years and from what I saw, they are definitely a team that could go all the way. Very strong bodies and some real stand out players. Bourkey and the club have to be commended for the transformation in such a short space of time.

Should be a great game this week when we take on Col Light at Thebarton.

I was told he use to be a gun full forward in his junior days :) Maybe then he was a better cricket or softball player? I still think he was better at the above three sports than slug! ;)
