I was talking to the Super Coach from Glenunga during the week & he told me Kenilworth will smash Woody South.
Now he's got the opportunity to put Woody South out of their misery!

I agree. I was watching on the sidelines and made a few comments about how good the umpiring was. Best umpiring Ive seen all season.

Yep, the umpiring was very good.

Much to my surprise we won pretty easily, we were good but the Eagles had a really bad day at the office. We need to back up todays great effort in two weeks now. The B grade has set themselves up very nicely, they owe it to themselves to get the job done now.

Yes the Eagles did have a VERY bad day and North Haven played awesome, hopefully the eagles can bounce back and have another crack. im sure they won't dish up that crap again!!!!

Hopefully. Id rather our blokes play Elizabeth in the Grandy than Woody South.

Giggle. Really?

North Haven looked brilliant on Saturday. 44's a sandbagger, what's he doing playing B grade?
We probably had as much of the ball in our attack as Havens but had no forward that could take the ball on and Havens crowded our forward area brilliantly.
Many of Haven's goals were result of quick forward play, leaving us short of numbers in defence. That'd need some correcting from us.

Umps weren't brilliant. As a club we've put ourselves in a position where the umps will play closer attention to what we're doing. We need to improve and not give umps a reason to give frees against us. Having said that, they were very quick to dish out 25/50 against us, where some for us were ignored. We did not lose because of the umps, we lost because of a skilled, more disciplined side on the day. Elizabeth will improve.

They were probably given more 25/50's because they werent used to having SAAFL umps, and probably said a bit too much to them. I can only remember one being paid up the northern end though. I thought they let the game play out, and didnt call the small stuff.

I saw the umpiring the same way Dogwatcher did. Overall it was ok but they were a lot hotter on our players and were very quick to penalise.
Didnt really affect the result in any way. North Haven were much better and Elizabeth wasted too many inside 50s. They will be better for the loss.

Hit guys late even with little force then the umpries will start pinging you. Would of thought after the 5th time it happened Elizabeth would of smartened up.

IMO Kenilworth are clearly the standout side this year, despite not finishing minor premiers. Having played against them the last few years myself, I thought Kenilworth and Glenunga were quite evenly matched during that time. Kenilworth needed a better Full Forward and Ruckman, they have recruited both, and real quality. This frees up Moser to go wherever he feels like really, and thats trouble.

Woodville South have clearly been far more consistent than Glenunga this year, and on their home deck are no doubts favourite this week. When that Glenunga machine kicks into action though, it is capable of scintilating football at times. Whether or not they can produce it for long enough during a game remains to be seen. When games are close, Glenunga have the ability to be able to snatch the win (most of the time), getting blown away is their problem.

Good luck Rams. Bring it. Because Woodille South will be far too strong against any mediocre opposition.

My summation of the Haven Elizabeth game was that Haven are a well drilled, hungry TEAM. They seemed to be very respectful of each other and didn't have any selfishness about them. They were extremely hungry at the ball and the man and didn't give eleizabeth a lot of time to think about disposal. They were balanced, strong, quick, fit and used the ball well. Elizabeth got a little lippy and reactional due to frustration. I think a few 25's were for that. One was for an elizabeth player walking thru the mark...thats just a lapse, but costly. I don't think they had as much footy as haven as it was 21 scoring shots to 13 and didn't really trouble score board till 4th quarter. I think you'll find North Haven are a very hungry and disciplined outfit.

I often red that statement...better for the loss. I don't think a side is better for a loss. I understand sides loose and re group, but I think your always better for a win...But I do hope Elizabeth beat woody sth. I think it's fitting to have the 2 top sides play it off in the big dance

Sandbagger? Interesting view there DW.

Ty as a key position player, playing mostly a forward, had blokes ahead of him the covered FF/CHF in the A grade for the majority of the year. Our top three A grade goalkickers were all key forwards, skipper Rory Duerden (38 goals, 4th in the BnF), Leigh Forrest (31) and Jake Lynch (26). Rory and Jake also played a little bit in the midfield aswell. Also down back, where I think Ty mostly played his seven A grade games we had Matthew Mooney (6th in the BnF) at FB, Andrew Jones (5th in the BnF) at CHB and at times Chris Lipson (2nd in the BnF) playing down back so our A grade coach Andy had his key positions covered for the the majority of the season. Andy also had heaps of smaller running type players playing through the A grade and B grade this season at his disposal. In saying this, in my view and most probably in Andy's view Ty playing B grade is a positional thing.

haha Ty will be happy to hear of this. Ty like a few others in the Haven B grade are quite obviously capable of playing A grade. The side would not be in the GF otherwise. Elizabeth would have their fair share capable of playing higher too I would have thought. Ty's lack of A grade games I would suspect is due to what TDK has explained, and also the fact that Ty does not have the highest attendance rate to training from what I have heard.
Havens should go quite well in the GF with the likes of Josh 'The Weapon' Frank, Darren Grimmond, Beau Heffernan and Anthony Chambers at their disposal.

Agreed, totally. And that's what we're saying, overall the game was well umpired but they were hotter on us because of our 'past form'. I saw several times where our players were knocked with minimal force after disposal and we didn't get a free or a penalty. There was also a penalty where the ump got sucked into giving a 50 when your player deliberately sought out an Elizabeth player who was walking away from the mark and danced around him to let the umpire know that he was in the exclusion zone. You kicked a goal. Well played. Doesn't mean it wasn't a poor decision.

Spot on with your summary of the game.

However, that 'walking through the mark' was a harsh penalty - read my post above.

I wasn't bagging Ty. He's quality. Hands of steel and was a major reason for Haven's win. No disrespect intended.
