Round 1 is finally here

Marion v Pooraka - Marion 35 points
Salisbury v Portland - Portland 23 points
Pulteney v Woodville South - Pulteney 60+
Gaza v Greenacres - Greenacres 40 points
Eastern Park v Trinity - Eastern Park 40 points

Probably get 0/5 as looks to be an even comp and just absolute guesses.

I'm reserving the right to change these tips after the Rd 1 teams come out!

Salisbury played Trinity in a trial last night at Salisbury oval
Certainly a strange feeling to play a trial game after round 1 and also against a team in the same div
Both teams with plenty out and game didnt reach any great heights, seemed like a glorified training session
Was a good crowd with cars double parked on the wing
Night games would be a good revenue maker but hard to organise during the year on saturday nights, perhaps an in-season weds night comp FA Cup style?
Im sure there would be a lot of reasons of why it wouldn't be a good idea but something different and play against different leagues/divs.

You're taking me back to the late 80's when Salisbury used to host a Wednesday night knock out comp while the season was going.

The next fad was the 9 a-side comps that every club had a crack at running.

Interesting Result between Pulteney and Portland. Can anyone explain how the game went?

Crucial 1 Point win for Pooraka in the overall landscape of the season.

Eastern Park looked pretty flat against WS.

Decent win for Marion.

Is it too simple to say some used the break better than others. The difference in Rd 1 form to Rd 2 form for some teams is massive.

Pulteney losing to Portland is embarrassing for the club.

Not a lot to tell from the opening two rounds, obviously Marion look very strong, Eastern Park and Greenies just behind them. Can't really gauge where anyone else is at judging on the results so far.

Away wins will be pretty much double points.

Agreed. Marion have a heap of away games in the back end of the season, so their strong start is crucial for them. Off Rd 1 you'd say them v Salisbury is a cracking game, but off Rd 2 you'd say they win 50+ if they're as strong as they look.

I'm feeling like Pooraka, Gaza and Trinity are pretty weak and maybe Marion equalise a little this week. I know Trinity had a lot out this week, including Cam Matters who is worth 5+ goals in my opinion.

3/5 Rd 2 - Pulteney wow. Greenacres my mis-judgment.

Rd 3
Greenacres over Pulteney - 30 points - expecting some sort of response
Pooraka over Gaza - 20 points
Trinity over Woody South - 15 points - the free kick count should get them over the line at home
Eastern Park over Portland - 50 points
Marion over Salisbury - 60+
