SAAFL - Division 2

Adelaide Footy League Talk

Postby bandar » Tue Sep 19, 2006 5:52 pm

I can remember some time ago voting for extra time in all finals except the grand final. It's pretty much standard practice that they get replayed in all levels and divisions of the game. I reckon that if they had extra time the side that lost would be wishing it was a replay.

Still would've been better to leave with a result. A cracker game, well done to both sides. Have to admit confusion reigned where I was sitting at the end. Good luck for the replay, we won't be able to make it.

in regards to the reception when sponsors name read out, probably lucky that the owner of CM was not there as
i dont think he would of appreciated it. not bad coming from a so called professional a2 club. Considering the owner has photos of hak, and the big guy
up in his business, this was not good. Has been forwarded to the board and are currently in a meeting deciding if sponsorship for 2007 should continue for the phos fc. have a good day

QUESTION: Are players these days bigger than clubs. my thoughts on this are that until clubs stop letting
players dictate who coaches and who doesnt , then they as a club will not go anywhere, and definately not back up in div 1.

I can assure you mb that the players didn't call this one. Many factors led to this decision being made which will not be discussed in this forum.

Brighton have taken him on board. Again, many things that occured/ didn't occur thru out the year led to the decision to not re-appoint him.

Some players THINK they are bigger than the club, and it depends on whether the committee have any balls as to how much they get away with.

There have definately been a few at my club who have used the "them or us" ultimatum over the past couple of years, including the sacking of a coach in 2004 and a payment deal for certain players (who in the end, didnt perform), and while I saw their points of view in WHY they did it, these situations could have been handled better, instead of the "do as we say or we're gone" mentality..

I agree mazda, clubs will get nowhere if players start dictating, especially when in the higher grades, NO PLAYER IS INDISPENSIBLE.

What if the coach THINKS he is bigger than the club?

If its them or us, what about the coach, he just goes and sacks the players, drops payments or doesnt play the player, is this a problem?

Would a club get anywhere if the coach was driving players away or couldnt recruit any? NO COACH IS INDESPENSIBLE.

FC, just a thought from another angle

cheers

Point taken.. for example: coach picking and choosing how much in incentive payments best player gets each week... the favourites will get more and the not -so-favourites will get less for a winning game.. I've heard of this happening at clubs before (not ours by the way!!!)
