I think everyone automatically assumed they would be crap because of the calibre of players seen clearing out pre-season.

And Cossi, it's very convenient that you left out all the negative pot shots you were taking in your response but that's ok. I take it with a grain of salt. Also interesting that an umpire will have any communications with either a player or any match day official. Someone is telling porkies somewhere. Either way don't think it mattered in the end!

Anyway we all move on.

All the negative pot shots?? I only called you a 'big softy' after being told about you went to the umpire before the game, which i would not consider a pot shot, more of an opinion. You even justified this in your response...

But like you said it doesnt matter and we all move on...

And i think it is quite common for the umpires to talk to the players/coaches before a game these days. It happens alot more than you think.

Just like the umpires are seen hanging around for a beer after the game...

Not just anyone, it was the great man Picachu. Wasn't playing on me either, leapt from about 3 deep. Has hops like Lebron and it was an honour to have his knee in the back of my head.

Would never have happened in div 4. I would have taken a one hander then kicked a goal. Div 4 average comp. our Bs would win some a grade games.
