I've been telling you blokes for the last 2 months not to be fooled by the Mawson Lakes porky pies on here Geoff Riddle is the greatest recruiter of all time!

Plan and simple numbers dont lie Mawson Lakes have 19 in  and only 7 out yet Central United have only 6 new players (to which 1 isnt even playing anymore) and 19 out!

Add to this last years C/U capt now out for 4 months with work, there best player out for the first 3 weeks and the capt from the 1st trial game and best on ground for the night out for an unknown timeframe with apendicitis.

  Pull the other one....How many of those guys do you think will play A grade footy all year? You could go out and recruit 100 blokes but if none of them are genuine A graders don't mean nothing. What we've done (what we've always done while i've been in charge) is gone out and tried to increase the depth and talent pool of the whole footy club.

We are the new kids on the block in this div and to have us as one of the favourites is laughable. We'll be happy to be competitive and avoid relegation.....don't be fooled by the smoke screens carey is putting up people ;)

This underdog off is sensational, but there's truly only one underdog....

Hahaha. To suggest a team can come from a smashing in the Div 7 GF and be looking at a top 3 spot in Div 6 is sheer folly. The Lakers havn't recruited that well.

Glenunga didn't even make the D7 GF and managed to get promoted to D5 last year.

Brad Lees is a gun recruit, will be as good as any player in this Div. A fit Bobridge is pretty damn handy too.

Agreed Q but Lees and Bobridge wont be enough. Glenunga recruited 12 odd players from a Div 4 club and Kenilworth recruited $$$$$$$$$$$Lots. Lakes do not pay, well not that much anyway so to think they will be up that high is,as I said pure folly.

Well Finn I would've thought with 3 weeks to go till round 1 'MOST' sides would be thinking along the same lines.

But it would not seem so down at the Lake.

And i Quote from a senior player at Mawson Lakes tonight to a senior member of the Central United coaching Staff (Not Me) but i was there

'We'll win by 8 goals in round 1 how many touches you want me to get'

Confident much..............

Bobridges foot skills let him down but reads the play well. Lees should carve up for Lakes I think, definately quality! Is his brother out there as well?

I'm not saying they are no good, they are awesome but I think you are pushing the heat away from CU who finished 3rd last year and would expect to go one further under the great coach. So what you are saying is that you expect to play them in the big one.   If they towel us up then so be it, we're sort of getting used to it. We are playing them because I know how they have improved and it gives us a chance to see how much we have. The result wont matter one iota when the real stuff kicks off.

No disrespect to Dutchy and to CU, im sure like any normal club they would have their eyes firmly fixed on achieving success this year and of course ultimately playing finals/winning a GF, but there is some serious hear emanating from Woody South & Mawson Lakes. They are the bench mark IMO.

Then you have sides like Trinity who are perennial finalists, CLG a Liam Davis inspired Houghton at home and Ingle Farm who have more recruits than the Australian Defence Force.

I would rate CU higher than all those except WS & ML but my point is its a long season and some real tough battles ahead and only a moron would declare their clubs chances so early in the season!

Mawsons vs Woody South should be a cracker, the speed of it should suit ML's pacey running game more and on the big ground will bring in all those fit little running machines!

CU finished 5th last year, now will have a good side this year but a lot depends on injuries. They have a some good top end players Frith,Hall,Garner's,woody,Adulla etc but not sure if they will have as much depth this year in the two's.A lot of there numbers from the two's and fringe "a" graders have gone back to Smithfield, tell will tell but do need a good run with injuries.
